Good thanks, keep myself to this board pretty much these days, but am around quite a bit. I don't think Conte is coming unless the money is put up in advance, £100m + sales seems to be the current rumour. There is youth coming through, but nothing first team ready yet to my knowledge.

Hope all is well with you (off the pitch obvs)

Actually it wasn't, as the Riverside Stadium cost £16m just two years before the Stadium of Light opened, and even taking inflation into account the SoL cost just under the equivalent of £75m while the Riverside is a shade under £32m

Also, look at other London stadium costs
    The Emirates - £390m (£612m)
    Wembley - £789m (£1.2bn)
    Taxpayer's Arena - £486m (£679m)

That's what you need to look at, and also when looking consider if anyone has ever suggested Arsenal's fall is tied to their quote-unquote vanity stadium

And that's why the narrative about our stadium doesn't stack up, because it's not like the stadium told us to sit back for 60+ minutes when going 1-0 up without a midfield capable of doing that effectively

How are ENIC in trouble ??

The club is effectively in the same situation as Kroenkes' Goons.
Tribal loyalty means there will never be a mass non-renwal
of STs, so even if there is one supporter in WHL each game you
have all the money up front.

There has to be some incredibly complex/special combo of
geo/political events that wipes out Uncle Joes' fortune, and only
Spurs delivering the goods on pitch can bring in the money to
ward off his creditors, to trigger a "root and branch" chain..

Know ye of such combos .... ??

When the stadium sounds like it did on Saturday, 40,000 fans didn't renew their memberships this summer, our best player wants to leave and can't be arsed to try and the club can't shift tickets for the ECL and on the Ticket Exchange, I think it's safe to say that there's trouble for the owners.

I know a number of people who are currently intending not to renew their season tickets for next season. In any failed business there comes a tipping point and Joe Lewis will know that once your main customers start to express their dissatisfaction and stop buying your product, it's time to act.

The club's allegedly finding £100m to fund transfers, that Nuno didn't get a sniff of. That's not altruism or a wind fall, it's buying back good will...because without it, there will continue to be scenes like Saturday night.

I, for one, wish Nuno the best of luck in the next step of his career.

It was never going to happen for him at Spurs.

Wolves fans (by and large...) were saying similar last season when it was clear his time was done not because he was bad but because he was burned out

Hopefully he gets a nice comfy gig in Spain

We could maybe get it down to £16m a year if we threw in a few free coupons for The Belgravia Centre

    Nuno delivered what Spurs ordered.
The problem is that you should never have ordered it in the first place.

Conte coming is a massive acid test for the club, tbh. A lot was said about Jose being a winner but he was joining us on his downward slide. Conte has a phenomenal recent record of trophies and has done it within the last few years in the PL. He’s in his peak years, not an up and comer like Poch or a shadow of his former self like Jose.

If this goes tits up then either there’s something mentally broken with this group of players or it’ll be down to Levy bricking it in the transfer window.

Yeah I think this appointment is the sort of end game result for both players and board.

As you’ve said we’ve had the up and comer, the former great, amongst many other types over the last 15-20 years but this one is the big one. We’ve got what I believe one of the very best managers in the world right now, top 5 easy I’d say. So if there’s no success (and success is dependent based on current expectations and predicament) then something is severely wrong at this club.

Immediate questions can be answered as well.

Has Kane slacked this season or been poorly utilised?
    Likewise Son?
Are the players just **** as a collective and can’t work in a system or were they poorly managed and coached?
Are Lo Celso and Ndombele really that poor or were they never fully utilised by their former managers?

Within a few weeks/ months I think we’ll have answers to all of those questions.

    Is Conte the right appointment?
Like Mourinho, he gets a big pay day and is living and working in a city he knows, which is a nice place to live if you’re well off.
Like Mourinho, he usually relies on established players (often acquired at great expense) who can execute his plans.
Like Mourinho, his record on developing young players or improving existing players is questionable. His recent record with Inter doesn’t merit scrutiny because Serie A is not comparable with the PL. Utd rejects improved that team.
Like Mourinho, he doesn’t seem to suffer fools gladly and this is a trait which can undermine team spirit when things are not going to plan.
He would probably improve Spurs, but can he do any better than get Spurs into a CL place? Maybe that would be his brief because the club needs the CL money. ‘Arry saw this as success - the height of his ambition, although Poch showed that it shouldn’t be. Mind you that was at a time when City, Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal had dropped off the pace and only Chelsea - and bizarrely Leicester - stood on the way of success in the league. It’s a huge ask to do any better than 4th at present.
    Is that fair?

Find it bizarre that Conte will join us instead of United.
Surely his agent is using this to push United into action.

I would quite like Conte as I think he will produce decent football and ensure those that play respect the fans by putting a proper effort in.

Would be genuinely amazed I'd we end up with him....

    or anyone before Xmas tbh

I won’t be expecting miracles in the first few games, albeit there might be the typical new manager bounce, least I hope so!

I think by 1st Jan we’ll have at least an idea of how this season will finish, how we’ll play, who’ll turn up, who’ll still cower and shy away, who’ll still be a steaming pile of ****.

One of the most telling things about how Nuno was viewed by the players is that after an (admittedly short) looks through social, I can’t find a single player who has put up a message wishing him the best. Even Jose got some of them.

Regardless of your views on Nuno there’s a lot of players hiding at this club right now. Højbjerg alluded to it in his pitch side comments after the United game. Players need to take responsibility. If we get Conte over the line and if he’s backed then he has the stature to call anyone out, regardless of who they are, if they’re not showing commitment. It’s badly needed IMO.

it gives Levy nowhere to hide. Mourinho to be fair was at least 8 years past his best when you appointed him but this is a top 5 manager in world football still in his prime.

I think unfortunately for Nuno, I wouldn't be surprised if some/ most of the players probably saw him like us fans, a poor-man's Jose and considering it seemed most of the players didn't enjoy life under him, Nuno was doomed the moment he started. Match day one I think we saw the players excel due to Kane's absence and it being City but after that it was a horror show, even the wins were bad. Lifeless and lacking any determination.

He leaves with dignity though and I don't think any Spurs fan can say they dislike Nuno the man, it's just the manager was the last thing we needed.

As for the responsibility of the players, like we've said, it's now end game for them, there'll be no excuses this time around under this manager. I have in my head those who I think will step up and I have those who I think will continue to fail this club.
