I’d see the logic if it were reliable. Staff at the humber bridge testing centre were told not to use them and, instead have a proper PCR.
They are reliable… https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/news...-previously-thought-researchers-find-12433421
New study published today in the BMJ shows amongst other things smoking cuts risk of getting covid by half So can we get 20 Benson and Hedges on prescription now ?
Had a heads up - Anyone needing / wanting their 12-15 year old Covid Vaccined, next Saturday 13th, it can be booked locally at the (old de la pole) Willerby Hill site, 10-4.30 using the national booking site. Apparently they also did it during half term but we missed it.
89% reduction in hospitalisations with the latest covid treatments, it’s defo time to return to normal & get in with our lives http://news.sky.com/story/pfizers-n...isation-by-89-trial-results-indicate-12460628Pfizer's new COVID treatment cuts hospitalisation by 89%, trial results indicate
Just watched an interview with the CEO of Pfizer and he was very impressive. November has been a standout month for his company. Last year it was a their COVID vaccine and today a new antiviral which clearly outperforms the Merck one. Pfizer shares up 10%. Merck shares down 10%!
This won't happen here, but I suspect Singapore will not be alone in doing this... Singapore will no longer pay the medical bills for coronavirus patients who remain 'unvaccinated by choice'.
Netherlands set for new lockdown despite vaccine- not a such a miracle cure after all then. I still think Boris will have us under another lockdown over the winter http://news.sky.com/liveblog-webvie...-to-impose-new-lockdown-restrictions-12443026
Vaccines aren't a cure, they're a preventative. And they were never a magic wand to make this all go away, but a signifiant tool as part of a range of measures to protect public health and let life get back to normal(ish). It significantly reduces the number and severity of COVID cases, it doesn't stop it altogether. I'm not so big on comparing what other countries are doing - they've all got different tolerances for risk, their performance of their healthcare systems. There will never be another lockdown, we haven't had anything like March 2020 since anyway. I honestly can't see Boris agreeing to another round of restrictions for people mixing, because he knows damn well the compliance with it will be nowhere near what it was previously. We'll get more vaccine mandates for certain groups of people, more encouragement to WFH if you can, maybe more mask mandates and enforcing of social distancing rules.
Fair comment….wrong choice of word by me, I didn’t mean cure in the literal sense. I meant the vaccine isn’t having the exact impact the politicians wanted And I do think more lock downs will follow
I don't think there's any appetite at all for lockdowns here and things would have to get far worse for them to happen.
