Did he say too much about 'mitigating circumstamces' in his interview yesterday?

Yes he said it twice that he did not know which person on the forum to listen to reference tactics and team selection and he was confused as there were so many knowledgeable people for one site.

Feels like we're writing off WBA game but don't think they are that good and who knows what we might do there with a change of manager. Wouldn't be under any pressure to start at WBA whereas Barnsley will feel like a pressure game.

Well whilst I don’t like Mcann tactics in this division I do believe this takeover began before the season so on the recruitment front he’s been properly shafted for this division - there’s some mitigating circumstances! . So maybe he was told there was possibility of a takeover so’ we’ are minimising our outlay and ongoing costs . ‘ We will keep within the existing budget , borrow a little money from the EFL because they don’t want it back soon and it keeps us very attractive.
Therefor you have to succeed with little or no investment, and still play the way you failed before- everything is rosy Grant - for me and the old man

Hope to god, Enob is kept well out the loop, till all this is sorted, with his history of moving the goalposts at the 11th hour and screwing things up.

I don't see it that way at all.
He had a very good promising squad from last season. No clear out for once so, bar Burke and the loanees (who weren't exactly world beaters or even starters) he had the same squad with really promising talent to develop further. On top of that he was allowed to bring in 8, (?), albeit on a budget, including the use of 3 PL loanees, 2 of which have so far been near enough a total waste of time ( not their fault). As we established earlier, he has a say in these additions and as we know he wasn't fighting for the desparately needed experience (or else he's a damn good liar). I don't see how he's been shafted. He just isn't good enough imo.

So when he had us knocking on the door of the playoffs before Bowen etc where sold in Jan... Was that just a total fluke? And if you say it was down to the players he had then surly you could say the same for the current situation?

give Chris Wilder this squad & City would finish mid table in May. The effort of the players is not in doubt, it’s the formation they are being told to play & the poor coaching they are receiving during the week from McCann. Give these players to an experienced coach & I have no doubt City would pick up points & start to move up the table. At present it’s the blind leading the blind!!

But most of the facts are there , ‘ on a budget ‘, premier loanees who probably don’t get a great deal from us , he he had to replace 8 too - on a budget.. I don’t think you can enter this division with a young squad pay no fees and pay div1 wages and do well, The recruitment has been pretty average - the owners , Darnborough and Mcanns fault combined. If your getting 1.5 -2.5 k a week at most and are settled elsewhere with a couple of years left would you uproot for the same elsewhere ? Only in other circumstances , so we didn’t pick up many Championship players did we-? Moncur is about it. His tactics I agree are a cause of not enough draws and extra points but the first time his two strikers sale shafted him with no real money for a decent replacement and now no money again at this level

I don't think that Grant McCann is fully at fault for what is happening on the pitch and I do not believe that it is interference from outside of the coaching team. I believe that there is a reliance and faith in one particular individual who is not liked by some of the players.

FFS Howden - you know the two golden rules i.e. when we lose he's ****ing useless and, when we win, he's ****ing useless and they won in spite of him. He isn't the greatest manager we ever had but, he's what we've got right now - the clubs about to be sold and the end of 'doing **** as cheap as we possibly can' is ''probably'' coming to an end - he's had an impossible job and when he goes, good luck to him and I hope he doesn't have to manage anywhere like this ****-show of the past few years.

Just a little point of order, our form had started dipping prior to Bowen and Grosicki being sold, I think this was muted at the time that that's why they'd been sold because our chances of play offs were fading fast. Granted no one knows if keeping those two would have seen us pick up again but it is fairly obvious is that we wouldn't have been relegated in such a pathetic manner. Since he lost those two his get out of jails cards ha e been none existent at this level, and he has been left wanting in tactical nowse against many managers. He's poor, in fact nigh on shocking at this level

I really don't understand your thought process at all.

You spent the summer saying that you didn't think the summer additions were good enough. So far, you were bang on, they aren't. But now you're saying they are & it's the manager's fault. The summer additions didn't improve the XI (I think that was mentioned at the time & relied heavily on our existing lads making the step up well. There are a few mitigating factors (covid & injuries) but on the whole, they haven't.

You can talk about experience all day long. But championship experience is seriously expensive and you can see from our signings that we don't have a pot to piss in. Therefore, it's a complete non-starter whether the manager wants it or not.

If you can't see that McCann hasn't been given a chance in the Champ, then I've no clue what you're looking at. He's not the only gaffer who's not been given a chance under the Allams though

Quite easy, Critchley is a very very good manager, thought that was obvious from last season. He transitioned brilliantly from youth football to senior & his contacts and knowledge have helped him out too with youngsters who haven't progressed as expected. E.g. Lavery, Stewart, Bowler etc.
