Exactly! I cannot see anyone coming in with a bid that would be beneficial to us so hopefully this is a non-starter.
What everyone (except Unabomber) seems to be missing is that if a prem club comes in for one of our players that player may actaully want to leave. I know all seems rosy in the camp, but that does not mean that if a mid table prem club came in for one of them they would not want to go. As soon as a player has his head turned it becomes a struggle, and possibly counter productive, to try and keep them when they want to leave. If a prem club offered say £2m for someone we paid £300k for, and that player wants to leave, I would say that the chances are that they would go. That's just the reality of the modern game whether we like it or not. It is not that the club would necessarily want to sell that player. It may be that we receive offers and the player(s) want to stay, and that would be great - I hope they do want to stay and be part of our promotion push, but it is naive to say that the club would simply say "we are not a selling club" and that would be the end of it. It doesn't work like that any more, the players hold all the aces.
What I was trying to say is I cannot see a prem club coming in for any of our players; therefore we will not need to worry
We could lose Brady as well if he sticks a few goals in during the next month or so. Someone like Bolton offering Man U a PL loan deal for the 2nd half of the season might be seen as better than leaving him here.
I think Brady is enjoying the experience here but i agree if a team in the premier league come in for him he's gone
Correct me if I'm wrong, am sure a few of you will but...... Coincidence or not but in our promotion season, at Christmas wasn't Watford racing away with the Championship until they sold players in the transfer window? They then went into a mini free fall and ended up 6th. the rest is history, but I feel that they sold away their automatic promotion. Hope we don't do the same, we hung onto the youth when relegated, lets not lose them now.
ok my mistake but you get the drift. ? why is it so hard for the fail to appoint a hull city fan as the reporter for heavens sake ?
Not going to happen, they wont rush him that quickly. He will stay till the end of the season im sure
thank god your not in charge then. they will be worth far more than that in future years. after the turner fiasco we need proper fees. if Julian lescott was bought for 23 million then James Chester for starters has the potential to command at least 15 million regardless of how he cost us.
no chance. that wont happen. SAF is not stupid and why would Brady want to leave a promotion team for a relegation battle. This is typical of what is wrong with the modern game and thinking. I bet Joycie has the biggest say in Brady's future for this season at least.
How many thousands of players with tons of potential fall off a cliff. You don't work on ifs and maybes, you make decisions at the time. James Chester could be worth £15m in 5 years or he could lose his form or sustain a serious injury and be playing for Bury.
In response to the original question, the only players we could realistically lose are Harper, Oli and Simpson. Adebola can only go if we get someone else in who has an aerial threat. Oh and anyone suggesting McShane should go is just mad. We need more cover for the defence, not less. As for the first team players leaving, it's a non story, there doesn't seem to be any PL interest and I don't think there will be. The PL clubs would rather go for someone in the media spotlight and at a more popular club like Snodgrass at Leeds than come here for our players.
anything is possible of course but it would take an offer of stupid proportions to even tempt city to sell dont see anyone of quality leaving in jan.
There seems to be a lot of mutual respect at the club now, and think that would mean that the young lads wouldnt leave. Could see Oli going, we dont want his wages and have better avalible, Harper can go, wont get anything for him. Simpson wont be going anywhere if we dont secure Waghorn for rest of season, cant see McShane going either, have no real cover at the back. Only "shock" I could see would be Koren, coming to latter stages of his contract, could still get a few quid for him and have cover avalible.
I would be a bit surprised if Liam went, NP resurrected his career, giving him a chance at City, when he was a bit in the wilderness. I also don't think NP will want to sell him, as not easy to find a right back of his ability.
