I don't give a sh!t about the noise coming from Chelsea. He's either good enough and the right tactical option for us or he's not. As DF said we're not here to develop players for other clubs. He's had a few chances to shine so far and hasn't. Maybe we should give someone else a chance to shine before he gets another go, i.e. Sorensen.
OK calm down. Just seems pretty stupid to lose a quality player in our position. I'm not advocating for him to be picked every game to appease Chelsea I'm advocating for him to start tomorrow as he's been on the bench for the last few games. If he's not getting minutes then he'll probably go to Rangers , similar to Josh Martin at MK Dons if he's not playing recall him. Gilmore is clearly a good player but Farke hasn't been able to get the most out of him , if it doesn't work out then get rid .
If he's not getting game time then there's a reason. If I was the loaning club I'd want him to stay and fight for his place, after all if he's going to break into the Chelsea team then he's going to have to fight for his place a some point. The alternative is Chelsea say ok don't worry, it's not your fault, we'll find you somewhere else who'll give you game time, even if you don't deserve it. You're too good to have to fight for a place. If he's as good as he thinks he is, he should be forcing his way into a team that is underperforming. Same with Josh Martin, suck it up, work hard & fight for a place.
He's certainly not good enough to carry an under performing team that hasn't even been leading this season let alone won a game . He's probably good enough to walk into the Rangers side and get minutes in Europe as well as it being his boyhood club . For me he's been a bit too lightweight and easily bullied in games but the best player on the pitch when he plays for Scotland. Sorensen is a strange one he's been brilliant every time he's played , most of his time as left back and nobody has come close to replacing Skipp. I'm left scratching my head with a lot of Farke decisions and when he's under pressure and not getting results he usually takes it out on one player and banishes them from the side . If we don't get a win soon I fear the confidence in the squad will dissappear and a few will be wanting a move in January or to cut their loan to us . I'm expecting Cantwell and Aarons to be sold if we don't improve drastically perhaps others will want out too. Apart from the 2 draws where we looked toothless but still didn't lose we have been horrendous in most games. The fans that continue to go to away games knowing that we will lose deserve a medal . We haven't been great at home either
But it's not as simple as that, is it? Whether he's the right tactical option depends on what the right tactics are, and that is a judgement made by DF. Maybe the right tactics for us require a different set up, one for which Gilmour is plenty good enough and the perfect tactical fit.
The noise about Gilmour has come from blogs looking for clicks, not from Chelsea, who want him to get PL experience, not SPL experience. Like Tzolis and Williams, his time will come, but not because of blog noise. As for tactics, I've more faith in DF than your good self Robbie.
Unfortunately Gilmore comes with the hype/ baggage as the best Scottish player in a generation If he was Bosnian he would just quietly go about his business. If he comes good and helps us survive then great If he starts and plays badly then send him back . We need to play him to see if he's worth keeping though which was my point . Felix Passlack was another one that bombed on loan and got returned. No big deal
I'm sick of loan players. Their host club is only interested in their development, the players often think they're doing the loan club a favour and show no real commitment to their new club, and even if they are good they leave a hole behind when they leave.
Skipp was amazing and I doubt we would have been promoted last season without him , BUT we haven't come close to replacing him .
Yes, he was. But we should have been preparing for when he wasn't there any more (e.g. Sorensen as a kind of understudy), but we seemed to just think we could stick a pin in a list of names and get a replacement. In the end we got no one.
I was going to post the exact same thing , tell Sorensen he's being groomed to replace him and have them work closely together. Normann is good but he's no DM he's taking corners, set pieces and trying to do everything on his own usually in the opposition half leaving us exposed.
Loaning two teenagers when we need experience and steel is not a good option I am affraid. The fact they have not cemented a permanent starting position would tend to point to this being, at best, unwise.
Ooo just realised, lose tomorrow and we'll be 8 points from safety! Please don't lose, please don't lose, please don't lose Bah!
IMO, Normann is the key to our season. Skipp did a great job at DM in the Championship, but his passing was limited and he depend on others to progress the ball to the attacking players. That worked ok when we were dominating play and does so again at Spurs where others do the passing. The hope with Normann is that he can defend, but also become the playmaker when we have the ball and even score goals himself. If he does that and the major share of defensive screening as well then we can improve and develop around him. I don't know if that will happen, but it could be our best hope.
Brits turn their clocks back tonight (Sunday morning). It means a 7am game for me, instead of 6am. (I hope I've got that right.)
I'm not totally despondent going into this. Apart from the Chelsea debacle we seem to be making some progress. Currently we have played 7 sides from the top half of the table, 2 from the bottom.
..............Krull. Aarons, Kabak, Hanley, O'dele, Gianoulis, ............. Sorensen, Rashica, Normann, Gilmore, ............. Pukki. Time to try something different. And Tzolis to come on no later than 60 minutes.
