This could be a very difficult match for Argyle....we will be without our engine room pivot...Jordan Houghton...who has recorded too many yellow cards and will sit out this important home match. The biggest crowd of the season is expected and there is talk of a possible sell out....at least 1800 from Ipswich coming. How will Ryan Lowe fill the important gap left by Houghton's absence ? Plenty of debate on pasoti on who should fill the gap....and it is becoming evident that he will be a hard man to replace. Talk of Grant, Mayor, Randell etc. Conor Grant already holds down an important position.....Mayor is seen as lacking in defending ability....others say that Adam Randell would be thrown unfairly into an important situation without enough game time or experience to do the job.....this is League One not Conference level. The question arises that if Randell isn't up to it...what good is he to the squad.....he does seem to have dropped down the ratings since his successful time at Torquay. Ipswich who started the season as duffers have recently started playing well and are moving up the table.....could this be the end of Argyle's undefeated run.....maybe a draw would be a good result for Argyle without the important help of Houghton ? I personally see that Houghton is a first time starter always with....Michael Cooper, James Wilson, Dan Scarr, Conor Grant, Panutche Camara, Ryan Hardie and Niall Ennis when fit.
It seems that Ipswich travelled down to Devon on Thursday. Paul Cook the manager is starting to play pre-match games....he is saying that he will have to make changes because of injuries....but of course hasn't named any by name....they have a strong squad so that doesn't tell us anything....unfortunately they know that our mid-field general Houghton is banned from the match....I'm sure that they will latch on to that change....so we need strength and experience in that position.
Lowe has choices. Law or Garratt can play LWB, leaving Conor Grant to play DM or he can play Randell, who I'm not have disappointed not to have seen get game time. Ipswich haven't been good away from home, even recently, so we need not panic.
Their last away game wasn't too shabby...a 4-0 win at Portsmouth....plus Jordan Houghton missing as our mid-field kingpin....not a time to be complacent for Argyle.
That might be so....but you kept a clean sheet as well. Ex Argyle apprentice Christian Walton in goal for Ipswich....went to Brighton and been on the road on loan for 6 years ever since.
Cooper, Grant, Galloway, Scarr, Wilson, Edwards, Camara, Randell, Broom, Jephcott, Hardie. Subs Burton, Gillesphey, Mayor, Garrick, Agard, Law, jenkins-Davies. Big day for Randell....could make or break him.
Argyle have the possession and are making the chances. Ipswich committing fouls and have 2 booked after only 30 minutes. Nevertheless, 0-1 down to a rather sloppy goal conceded from a corner.
Radio commentator and Rory Fallon just pondering whether Argyle's previously successful tactics had failed them when Jephcott equalises from point blank range!
Grant puts Argyle in front. Ipswich are packing the midfield and we're having trouble playing through that way. When we get the ball wide though, good things happen..................
At 60 minutes, the foul count is now Argyle 1 Ipswich 14. Bookings 0 to 3. They're kicking everything that moves.
Nail biting at the end but Argyle hold on. Top of the league at least until Tuesday. The sun's still shining here and I still have the window open. Can hear the celebrations very clearly!!
She goes off to her Mum's in Somerset on the last weekend of each month. Her uncle is very seriously ill too, so no question of not going. Have the 4 Flexi tickets now, cheaper than I thought as there's an Under 23 concession. Ironically, there are no home games on a Saturday for ages!
