  1. Does anyone reckon he deserves a start?

I'm not saying he's going to be fantastic, but he deserves a chance to prove it at least.

He basically was the driving force that got us through our last cup tie. Lover scored both the first goals, but Marveaux did all the work really. I'm not saying the rest of the squad deserves no credit for the win, I'm just saying he's one of the main reasons we're still in the cup.

He also looked impressive vs Villa, he played a fantastic chip pass and Cabaye almost scored. His deliveries have been quite impressive overall.

Obertan is a good player, but his final balls have been 9 times out of 10 awful. I think Marveaux deserve the chance to prove he can be more effective. I'm not saying he will be, but he deserves a chance. Obertan should come on as an impact sub.

I know Marv isn't as fast as Ober, but he's still quick and has proven he has the potential to whip in match winning deliveries.

Do you think we should keep on playing the same team or let Marv play?

Marveaux won't start on Saturday I can almost guarantee it, he'll play the cup match against Blackburn though. If he plays well against them and Obertan's disappointing again then I think that's when Pardew will look at dropping Obertan.

Marveaux has easily done enough in the cup and reserve games to be really banging on the door now.

I agree entirely. I think he's the only change that should be made. Everything else isn't a necessity yet

    Another groundbreaking suggestion...

I'd like to see him get a chance but I dont think we're going to play him on the right and Jonas is undroppable at the moment. He'll get his chance, we have the cup and a long old season ahead.

He's certainly knocking at the door but that door will remain closed until we are beaten. Pardew will not change an unbeaten team in league games. It's a shame because Marveaux clearly offers more in creativity than Obertan and Gutierrez is, as Smudger has said, ''undroppable'' not only because his form but because of Ryan Taylor playing at LB. Marveaux doesn't have the same attack/Defend mentality and Ryan Taylor would be massively exposed without Jonas.

Marveaux's time will come, just not quite yet.

I expect him to start against Blackburn, possibly keeping his place for Stoke if it doesn't go to extra time. (Same goes for Ben Arfa and Santon, for that matter)
Can't see Pardew dropping either Jonas or Obertan before then though.

Tough one for Pardew. Surely he knows Obertan has been **** but he's supposedly very much a 'confidence player' and dropping him might make him even ****ing worse <yikes>

Plus would Marveaux even be effective out the right??

You seem to be forgetting that we've had both Titus Bramble AND Jean Alain Boumsong at the club <yikes>

He's not that bad but certainely hasn't been as good as the rest of midfield and potentially, what we have on the bench. He's benifiting from being the only RM in the first team atm but I reckon he'l be dropped soon if he doesn't start picking people out.

    Does Marveaux deserve a start?

Not when Jonas is playing well, and I don't like playing our best talent out of position.

    Should HBA start?

Yes. Ahead of Best. But give Leon 30 mins in the second half to get his goal and prove a point!

  20. I'd say it is quite broken in some aspects, one aspect being the only good deliveries coming into the box from the right side are from Simmo, which puts extra pressure on him to push forward.

Obertan's final balls are ****e, we need a winger that can put in a decent cross from the right, and Marv has shown he could potentially do this.
