Has anyone else noticed that we collected no cards in our games against Barnsley and Ipswich - a feat we have not managed in any other games this season? Just saying. Our cards this season: Opponent_______(Y) (R) Middlesbrough__(5) (0) Barnet_________(3) (0) Brighton_______(5) (0) Reading________(2) (0) Bristol City___(1) (0) Cardiff________(1) (0) West Ham_______(4) (1) Hull___________(1) (1) Blackpool______(3) (0) Peterborough___(1) (0) Leeds__________(2) (0) Barnsley_______(0) (0) Ipswich________(0) (0) Total__________(28)(2) Cards/Games____(2.15)(0.15)
quite pleased that at last we managed to last two whole games without picking a whole load of yellows or the usual red . It was costing the team dearly and Pompey were fast acquiring the tag of a dirty team amongst the referees . No good blaming every Tom , Dick and Harry about sending offs . If you send your team out to play dirty week in week out then you are bound to get tagged and noticed more for your style of play . Maybe the style of football our previous manager liked was inherited by the football he played while at Wimbledon in his younger days , the infamous Crazy Gang .
I think, given the start of 15 yellows after four games, we were all understandably worried about how suspensions would affect our already limited squad. This does seem to have been addressed though, collecting only three in our last four games.
also should point out that Forest got 3 yellows and a red today (even though they won). good to see Cotterill took his hooligan football with him.
Saints are the new dirtiest South Coast team, after a red card for Hammond, and 3 yellow cards against Reading this evening........
