I'm not disputing that he was told at that time, I just think it's bollocks what he was told.

I believe you. Ehab told you Bruce spent £80 million in the season we were relegated. What Ehab told you was bollocks. Maybe don't believe Ehab in the future. The guy doesn't even know how to stay under the speed limit :emoticon-0148-yes:

It's hardly a surprise that he wanted more because 80m for the most part doesn't buy you a squad able to establish a club in the Premier League. Even in 2015.

First time, I thought it was autocorrect. Second, I just ignored it. But that's the third time in a row you've put "your" instead of "you're" and I can't gloss over it after your condescending and belittling attitude. I'll go to bed if you promise to stop taking everything Ehab says at face-value and retake GCSE English.

It's an expensive business, but the income streams are huge also.

He may have spent 80m but the guaranteed income that came with his promotions exceeded that, and the resale value of the players he signed would eventually prove to significantly offset that initial investment also.

The club under the Allams has not carried commercial debt, so it's not quite the same as the loan situation Bartlett had with investec either.

What the Allams had put in was easily covered by the value of the club and its guaranteed income at the time.

Didn't they agree a 130m takeover shortly after only for it to be knocked back by the Premier League?

Honestly, I believe that the spat with the fans over the name change simply led to the Allams changing the financial strategy towards disposing of the club whilst recouping as much as money as possible. A strategy were hopefully in the end-game of currently.

    Yes true .
We only heard of the perceived outlay but no mention of the income via TV .
Lots of smoke and mirrors which can easily confuse p,entry.

I don't quite get why Bruce was so intent on signing Powell though who had made 2-3 appearances for us in half a season. That was what led to the whole 'Ask Ehab' performance and presumably was the final straw, but it wasn't as if Powell had been particularly good for us?

Bruce made some dodgy signings, I'll admit. Proschwitz was one to forget. I'd also find it strange if not signing Powell was the straw that broke the camel's back but maybe Bruce saw potential in the lad in the same way he saw potential in Robbo, Maguire and Clucas.

He has certainly come reasonably good (albeit at a much lower level), but at the time, after an injury hit spell at the club, not sure why he was the one we would have been so desperate to sign. In fact that squad, when fit, was plenty good enough with just a couple of additions. I doubt Diame would have left if Bruce was still at the club for instance.

EDIT: This sounds like I'm saying Bruce shouldn't have made signings, not saying that. We needed a couple of top up signings, more just reflecting on the huge opportunity missed by forcing Bruce out.

I thought it was Andre Gray that he wanted?

He wanted Andre Gray at the start of the 2015-16 season. This was the season after our relegation. He ended up going to Burnley and scored 23 goals for them in that season and they won the Championship title. The following season, the 2016-17 one, was when he resigned in the summer, presumably after missing out on Nick Powell. I imagine Bruce was becoming increasingly frustrated with Ehab and not being able to sign the targets he and his staff identified.

Clucas was probably one of the most opverated players we will ever have,
The money we got for him was amazing value on initial outlay .

I tend to agree. He was quite limited as a a Premier League player but was great for us in the Championship and seems to be doing alright for Stoke. He's a solid Championship player. We had Swansea's pants down for the fee they paid though.
