Shocking display from us. Any team that gets physical seems to win. Thought we were very slow, complacent even.
The family indoctrinated my Grandson into a life of supporting the lads with his first game at the SOL... sad it wasn’t a winning first game, but that’s life as a fan ... he will be back ... as will the team
Chasing the game and he takes Neil off whilst O’Nien remains in CM. Madness, absolute ****ing madness.
Have seen the ‘headbutt’ incident and it wasn’t. Clearly Stockley was bullying your lad, but it was definitely a shoulder not his head. Think it happens at every corner tbh and we’d end up 7 a side if those incidents were ever given cards. Likewise the other penalty shout clearly hits Pearce in the face and in any case was from about 2 yards away and hit hard so nothing any defender could do differently. It’s just one defeat to a fired up team with a club legend as new manager. You’ll be fine in the long run and I’m sure yesterday won’t end up stopping you getting promotion. We might even sneak into the playoffs but in any case I think the next time we meet at your place it will be a Championship match
Makes a change. Accrington beat us by roughing us up on Tuesday, and no-one complained. I only listened to the commentary, and our (totally unbiased) commentators were complaining the ref missed a lot of Sunderland fouls. Who'd be a ref? Lee Johnson's mentality would worry me if I was a Sunderland fan.
A very disappointing performance. To many players having an off day. Credit to Charlton they had a game plan worked extremely hard and took the points. Pity they didn’t work as hard for the previous manager. It’s a setback and there will probably be more, remember we have no Devine right to get out this league it has to be earned. We didn’t do that yesterday. I’m sure we will learn from it and come back stronger. Disappointed but not downhearted. Keep the faith lads and lasses.
Agreed . A couple of really good chances early on. Take one and it’s a different game. Poor finishing actually.
Disappointing performance yesterday, they were fired up but we had a couple of decent early opportunities but didn’t take them. Too slow in thought and deed in midfield and out wide. We need to get Stewart to use his energy in the right areas as yesterday he was being used everywhere bar his own position. We delayed the subs too long and need to handle the physical stuff better than we did yesterday. We’ll be back though. Onwards and upwards.
I'd be worried about the mentality of the Charlton players if I were you. Under Adkins they've been rotten and suddenly raise their game for this game ... ... they can just as easily 'down tools' if they don't like his replacement.
I have defended you (a few times), Monty, but patience is wearing thin where quite a few are using the 'ignore' facility because of you (the O.P. shouldn't have to have you on 'ignore' for his own threads). Your posts are not just stupidity, as Marcus suggested . . . . they are also being perceived as deliberately winding others up, disrupting threads and causing offence. Think about it, Monty, otherwise I, for one (I might be the only one), will miss you
So now it’s down to colour? You ****in prick. @Gordon Armstrong @marcusblackcat is this idiot not to proving he’s here to wind up or provoke arguments.
God points mate. I don't like to see Stewart so involved in the build up. He's doing too much work in areas where he's not posing a threat. We had far too many passes yesterday and Charlton raised their game so they chased everything. We were far too narrow, even McGeady kept coming inside. I wanted O'Nien off at half time because he was playing his own game and looked lost. I suspect Evans will play so Niel can be more creative. Embleton was missed yesterday. Hope you enjoyed the day mate ... .. you can't win 'em all.
What I’ll say is, despite everything Stewart ishows genuine quality every game, we need to go up just to keep him in my opinion. He’s easily Championship level and will no doubt play in the PL at some point. Like you say we don’t want him too deep but ball to feet on the last man holding it up and the midfield can support him, chances galore.
It didn't hit him in the face. If it had the player would have raised his hands immediately to his face. It was his arm and he didn't have his arms tucked away. It would have been harsh but it was strictly a penalty
