Paddy Moloney, founder of the Chieftains, has died aged 83. The band collaborated with everyone from Van Morrison and Mick Jagger to Frank Zappa and Madonna, but here they are back where they started out, playing in an Irish pub: RIP Paddy Moloney, or Pádraig Ó Maoldomhnaigh if you prefer, 1938 - 2021
Only just caught up with this, I love how YouTube throws stuff your way...It's a return to form for Nada Surf who i'd lost track of some 20 years ago! This song's subject is very now though...
To quote Rick from The Young Ones, "does anyone like The Human League?"... Their classic quintessential Synth Pop album, Dare was released 40 years ago tomorrow and sold bucketloads.
First Radio 2 play for Fable yesterday on Craig Charles' show - 20 minutes in - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0010p6b
Great exposure, Radio 2 is massive. This one is a real departure from other songs I've listened to, it's really catchy in a good way!
Here's a brilliant documentary from the Beeb about Two Tone.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00105h9/2-tone-the-sound-of-coventry
Yep, I had to twist her arm a bit to write this one! But then, it's actually about not bending your principles for money, so it has her usual kind of coded message involved in it!
This video comes with a warning. If you get scared for life after watching it that's down to you you have been warned
Any excuse for a bit of Van Morrison, here playing with the Chieftains. I've heard a few people do Raglan Road, but this is my favourite. Van sitting at the back behind the drums looking like, as someone describes him in the comments, "a slightly shabby literature teacher" and then he starts singing. RIP Paddy
