Match preview; Peterborough had gone four games without a win before their 1-2 win away at Hull on Wednesday evening. They currently sit 20th in the table, having won three, drawn two and lost eight so far this year. Their top scorer is Siriki Dembélé, with 3 goals, but scoring hasn't been a problem...they have actually scored 14 so far this year, which is the highest of any team outside the top 14. In terms of defensively, however, things aren't looking so good...they have conceded 26, and so have the worst defence in the division, next on the list being Cardiff who have conceded 24, and then Reading with 22. Darren Ferguson will be keen to sort out their defending asap to avoid a nerve racking season. As for us, we're the second highest scorers in the division, with 24 goals...only bettered by Fulham's 29. We've got players coming back from injury, and after Tuesday night, have now moved into the playoffs. I don't want to get ahead of myself, and lets remember...this is QPR, so given the stats point towards us scoring a fair few, we'll probably hit the bar, both posts and have a certain goal cleared off the line by one of our own players...and walk away with a point after a dull 0-0 draw...but...here's hoping another solid away performance will get us the three points we need to solidify our place in the top six. Team News: QPR: Lee Wallace, Sam Field and Charlie Owens will all miss out for the R’s, whilst Stefan Johansen may return following his suspension. Peterborough: Jack Marriott, Ricky-Jade Jones and Joel Randall miss out through injury, whilst Jonson Clarke-Harris remains suspended. Pre-match talk: Mark Warburton (QPR Manager): “Now we have another tough game at Peterborough this weekend. “They also come into the game following a very good result in midweek, at Hull. That will give them lots of confidence. “They are tough to beat at home – I watched their recent game against West Brom. They are hard to beat and break in numbers. They have ball players in midfield and defenders who can drive out with the football.
Same starting 11 for me, except with Amos starting instead of Dozell. Johansen on the bench, we need to start with the intensity and energy we ended Tuesday's game with !
We probably have the best ref in the division for this game, Jarred Gillett. Here's a little insight during his final match in Australia.
Do they ever share the mike stuff from refs over here? That was great, really informative. He seems the business, great rapport with the players, very clear on why he’s making decisions.
Thanks Dave. So we have a good ref, an opposition team flirting with relegation, the bookies favouring us and the confidence of a win against Mowbray's Defending Manikins and a huge travelling support. What could go wrong?!
What even the Dominator? Have to say I like Dom, gives his all and does a huge amount of dirty donkey work....... someone has to, to allow the likes of Chair, Willock etc to do what they do best....... Close to 4000 going to game........ fabulous support
Wow, Arsenal players who gave a ****. Long gone…… I presume all refs are miked up nowadays, in the Championship and above anyway. They should just tell them and the players that the league holds the rights to every thing said on the pitch and has the right to broadcast anything it wants (even if it hasn’t). Might calm things down a bit.
The last time I ever saw us play in person was probably close to a decade ago and the opposition was Peterborough. I managed to get Mrs Maple to her one and only live match where she surprised me by knowing the offside rule (I don't know she ever played) Anyway, this was at Loftus Rd, the final score was QPR 1 1 Posh and though thes match coming up is at Peterborough, I am hoping, expecting even a much better result
I'm going to this game. Train arrives at 10:50, a few beers in the moons pub and then me and a mate have to be at ground 13:00 to be a guest for the day of a certain Mr Barry Fry. And then, if in any sort of fit state my club has a tribute Elvis bloke in the evening.
I went there about 15/20 years ago...a nice distance for an away game. Easy to get to, and not too long a journey. Hope you enjoy it.
Reminds me of the build up, away following for Wimbledon away at Selhurst. Hateley etc. Hope I am wrong
No one else to play there until Field is available, I don't like playing players out of position. Just seen that after this game, our next 8 league games are all live on Sky ! ****ing marvelous
Really?! The good news is they are getting interested in our chances. The Bad, well, we all know how well we do on Sky!
Didn't Gareth Ainsworth play a blinder for them that day? I was there too. I seem to recall it being the start of the tail spin that ended in relegation that season
