Even if we draw, that's not acceptable tbh.

Our recent form against Villa is really bad. We've lost our last 3 games against them and haven't scored a single goal.

I prefer the balance of this team then the 1 against Palace.. Hopefully we will be able to control the game and keep the ball..

Villa are gash...no excuse to losing to them.

We conceded 3 against Palace, Chelsea and you lot in row...we created 20 chances in TOTAL in those games (7 on target).

We conceded 9 scored 1 in those games.

Our next game was v Villa.
We had 17 attempts, 8 on target and scored 2 (for the first time this season (was our 7th game).

If you lose to that dross Arteta has no where to hide imo.

    Good half actually.

Lokonga and Partey have been good. Not allowed Buendia any space at all and both getting forward well.

Tavarez is quality - Tierney has a fight on his hands.

My big concern was that we would drop off after scoring (as we have done soo many times under Arteta) but thankfully they kept that intensity up.

2-0. HT. excellent half of football.

One of the best we’ve seen under Arteta. Pressing wise, we’ve been great, won all the midfield duels, forced them into making mistakes and sustained pressure.

I think we had 13 shots in that half (4 on target) whereas Villa have had 0.

My only disappointment is that we aren’t 3 or 4 up. We’ve totally outplayed them.

Next goal is critical. If they get it, it’s game on again. If we get it, game will be effectively over.

Shame we haven’t played like this every week under Arteta, ey?

Considerably weaker with Maitland Niles in the middle.

3-1. FT. Annoying to concede that goal, as I felt we deserved a clean sheet, but Partey’s tackle wasn’t strong enough and we didn’t close them down quick enough. Great strike by Ramsey tbf.

Overall though, a fantastic display and victory after the last two disappointing displays and results.

We need to see more of these performances, though. Doing it once every 5 or 6 games isn’t going to cut it.
