He had to go, but will it make any difference come May ?

JJ has the same bunch of sub-standard players to work with.

Good luck to him and JE. They’ll need it.

Jackson's future as a coach at CAFC could (and maybe should) be in serious question now.
Our next incoming manager could well want to bring trusted aides with him.

Sentimentality is something we aren't in a position to afford now.
Jackson - like Powell and Bowyer - will always be admired for years of good service.

Good luck on Saturday anyway JJ <ok>

We have 12 league games for the rest of this year. Why can’t Jacko be that man who picks up say 20+points in that time.

If he does that then there is no reason not to yet him continue. Give him until then and if it goes south once again, then fine. Get someone else in.

You not going to find anyone more suited in this short term and he may have better ideas on how to pick and run a first eleven

    I get your point @CafcFactsStats

I just don't want to see Jacko getting abuse from the covered end fans if Charlton start to lose games again a month or two into his tenure.
It would be a dreadful way for him to end his time at Charlton.
And let's be under no illusions.
If JJ passed a 'honeymoon' period with some good results, then went on a losing run, the upper North fans will turn on him.
I think it's too much to ask of him.

But if he really wants a crack at the gaffer's job permanently, I would not oppose that.
I'll wish him the best of luck and hope very much that he proves my doubts wrong and does well.
He'll have to convince TS to make the commitment though.

It's worth noting that the Covered End gave support to Jose Riga and Millwall Bob and our Sir Alex right up to when Roland pulled the trigger. Even Parky who oversaw a horrible relegation never got abused either, neither did Dowie or Uncle Les, and pardew fully deserved anything that belatedly came his way. "NA ain't got a clue" isn't too far off the mark, so Jacko doesn't have too much to worry abahrt. A friend of mine was a S/T holder at Southampton when Adkins got sacked, and I remember saying to him how awful to sack him after two promotions, but he replied in no uncertain terms that the fans were glad to see him go, because the football was so horrible. Whatever our results under Jacko I expect a better standard of football than the hit-and-hope we've been watching.

I still think the hit and hope was nothing to do with Adkins. All the players who should have been making themselves available chose to stand behind the opposition players and wouldn't move, so eventually a punt was the only option.
Maybe Jacko will explain how to move into space....

Agree, NA ended up having to drop our leading scorer to the bench, to try to stop the hoof ball from the back. Having said that I still think the reason for the hoof ball is that the midfield we have is just nowhere near good enough to play the ball on the ground through the opposition midfield and to the feet of the strikers.

It all comes back to the poor summer recruitment and without knowing whose fault that was then it’s hard to point the finger of blame, but personally I still think it was down to TS’s budget in the main, but I admit I have no real evidence of that apart from NA’s comments.

I wish JJ the best of luck. I hope he makes a success of it. But I would like a new broom. He has a really difficult start with Sunderland. It will be interesting to see what players and formation he chooses.

We all want him to do well.

Just don't be too surprised if things don't work out. And don't be too surprised if support for JJ turns to criticism, barracking and then abuse in some quarters. Sadly nobody is safe from it anymore.

The usual suspects, who will criticise any manager, even successful ones. It's what they do.
