It'll be interesting to see if they go for a pragmatic choice like Howe or Allardyce or if they go for the biggest most prestigious sounding name they can get to sign.

I'd guess the latter because a) the fans will cry if it's not and b) do any of the new ownership team know anything about football?

Hounded out Bobby Robson, one of the most highly regarded managers to ever be involved in the game. Not only that but always came across as a gentleman.

But he was getting on a bit and hadn't won them anything so wasn't good enough for them.

In typical mag fashion they whitewashed that and he is now theirs!

    The ****ing bellends!

Others on here will probably know more but I remember reading that he was devastated by the whole thing more so the club turning their back on him and never inviting him to any games?

Quinny told Bobby Robson he was welcome at SOL any time he wanted, and he did come to watch us on numerous occasions in later years, always as a guest of the club, and always treated like a VIP.

Well done to Quinny and the club. When he retired it's only right that he was treated with the respect he earned and got the chance to watch as much football as he wanted.

"Sir Bobby Robson hit back angrily last night at the fans who jeered his Newcastle team after a home draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers looked likely to cost them a place in the Champions League."

    <laugh>

Booed for just missing out on the Champions League ...

... they booed Robson but ignored Shearer missing a late penalty that would've won the game.

And they hold banners up claiming they just want a team that tries.

Blokes at work ridiculed him and wanted him sacked by the end. And these were the more level headed type of supporters, middle aged men. God knows what their riff raff were saying about him.

I remember them being interviewed by Look North as they left the stadium, some of the comments were really bad ...

... no doubt they wept for the cameras as they placed a bunch of service station daffs when Robson died..

This is another report from that Wolves match.

"Skipper and United talisman Alan Shearer missed a penalty six minutes from time.

Laurent Robert was booed in the second half and jeered as he was finally put out of his misery 10 minutes from time.

And the Frenchman's replacement Hugo Viana was loudly booed as he came on - a legacy of the fact he chickened out of a tackle which led to Marseille's first goal on Thursday night.

This was all bad enough - but then came the most embarrassing scenes of all. Just before the end it was announced that the United players would come back out after the final whistle.

It was made clear that this wasn't a lap of honour but a thank you to the fans. This was greeted by more booing.

And by the time the players emerged rather gingerly there could only have been 5,000 supporters left in the ground.

This included a handful of Wolves supporters singing "Bye Bye Champions League."

Believe it or not, but worse was to follow when Sir Bobby Robson, not knowing the cameras were still rolling and beaming pictures into the corporate boxes in the stadium, decided to unfavourably compare the Newcastle fans with those at Leeds."

But, of course, they're the best fans in the land <laugh>

Thing is he wasn’t “Newcastle “ in the extreme. He watched and supported both us and them. He was a manager and a north east lad. Roker and sip. He was known to frequent them both and support the home team. The mags don’t like that but it’s a fact.

Met the bloke once. Possibly the nicest football man I’ve met. And still one of the most genuine and nice people too. Massive respect

That is more or less the level to which most of them have descended.

All whataboutery and theytooery. You can almost see them cringe and try and work out a response when they are confronted with any one of the multitude of examples of the Saudi medieval mindset.

In fairness I have had some great sport with a couple of them. I'll lay on a few examples of political persecution, give them a day or two to struggle and come up with a feeble, " others do it too," answer, and then I'll leave it and move onto say, religious persecution or slave labour.

I could be on forever tormenting them, so long is the list of depraved behaviours of that odious state.

It'll be like when people say, 'Every club has it's minority of hooligans' as if that excuses some violent incident.

"Aye the Saudis aren't perfect but look at England and all them slaves we used to have."

In Newcastle the difference between a villian and a hero is measured in very small amounts!! One was foreign and was loved one was Geordie and was hated.
