Unsurprising, but if they had waited a few days Derby would have gone bottom with their points deduction

If only he were here now.
We could be mid-table after a string of 0 - 0 draws rather than basement boys :emoticon-0106-cryin

Derby going into administration, now going to be -21 points. So appointing Lampard, followed by Rooney, as managers has not gone too well. Allegedly the owner has sunk £200m into the club which is now losing £1.5m per month.

Considering the circumstances I don't think Rooney has done too badly as a manager. When he was playing wasn't his contract was paid by a sponsor as well? However it's the wages that bring these clubs down the article on the BBC said it trebled to 16-47million between 2014 and 2018, totally unsustainable. I wonder which other clubs are looking over their shoulders at the administration monster behind them!?

Given who we have played, I suspect it would be a string of 0-2 defeats, having replaced our forwards with extra defenders to avoid 0-3.

Having said that, I feel sorry for Hughton. I'm shocked by how badly it has gone at Forest: I thought he was a certainty to get them into the play-offs this season through grinding out 1-0 wins. Is his style of football just too out-of-date now, or are Forest such a basket case that no one could succeed there? (Benjamin Bloom has an interesting vlog about this on his YouTube site.)

Hungary have been ordered to play two matches behind closed doors by Fifa following the racism English players experienced at the World Cup qualifier in Budapest on 2 September.

However, the second ground closure is suspended for two years.

The Hungarian Football Federation has also been fined £158,400 (200,000 Swiss Francs).

"Fifa takes a clear zero tolerance stance against such abhorrent behaviour in football," read Fifa's statement.

The governing body added that it remained "firm and resolute in rejecting any form of racism and violence as well as any other form of discrimination or abuse".

    Pointless, useless Fifa again.
Throw the team out, then it might change.

Hungary game the system very well, at both a sporting and a wider political level. Orban knows that the EU can't kick him out, so he takes the money and gives them the finger. Part of me wishes the EU would call his bluff and tell him to **** off back to Russia, without a single euro, and see how much Putin loves him. But I understand, of course, that this would be crazy and realpolitik will always take precedence.

Premier League and Championship clubs have been asked for expressions of interest to pilot safe standing areas this season.

Clubs have until 6 October to submit an application to the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA).

"If approved, they will be able to offer licensed standing areas from 1 January 2022," said the SGSA.

Since 1994, first and second-tier grounds in England and Wales have been required to be all-seaters by law.

I only know CR as an all seater, but have been to lower league grounds or in fact the NIB stadium in Perth and stood to watch matches and I don't get it. Maybe it's why I choose seats at gigs rather than standing. I get tired!

I seem to recall that we lost 7-0 at ManCity under Hughton.
