This also resulted in a formation change. Almost a 4-4-2.

I think we fully deserved our win against City. Both teams missed chances but I feel we had the better and more clear cut ones. You're always going to cede large amounts of possession against them but I felt Nuno got everything right that day, our counter game was excellent and caused their defenders a number of problems.

Yes we played very well. But we did miss chances and they could have scored theirs. Missing chances is our own bad play. Opponents missing them is often outside our control and in my book lucky. Chelsea got a clean sheet against Brentford which was partly deserved because of brilliant saves by Mendy. But Brentford missed at least four clear cut chances so I say Chelsea were lucky. That doesn't mean Brentford were unlucky.

We were better than the scoreline against Watford suggested, with Kane and Dele missing sitters

This is why I don't get the "big chances" discourse from the anti-Nuno mob: when they started that dreck after the Palace game not one of them seemed to comprehend we had more goals than "big chances" which made the entire argument laughable

Similar to those moaning about the number of shots we'd conceded around that time, ignoring how
a.) 1/3 of those were in the Wolves game
b.) The shots on target conceded was a fraction of the quoted figure while also being a fraction of what they were between December-April last season

We weren't and aren't creating enough chances, in my opinion.
That Alli miss not counting as either a big chance or much on the xG count was ludicrous, though.
Shoots unmarked from the centre of the box and it goes slightly wide and that's not up there? What?

I'd also suggest that the Newcastle game saw us "lose" a couple of big chances to fouls.
Clark's foul on Kane prevented a pass that would've seen one of two players clear on goal.
Shelvey's red was to prevent Reguilon squaring it to Moura for a one-on-one with the keeper, too.

Man City are wearing their 2nd kit tonight, which is white and pale blue.
That's in contrast to their traditional home kit, which is pale blue and white. <doh>

West Ham game should be interesting. Not sure what to make of them this season but they seem to play 150% of their ability against Tottenham and Chelsea.

Until last season, we'd had a pretty good run at their place. Last season, we only got a point off them over the 2 games, which reflects the balance of power tipping in their favour.

As so often this season, I've no idea how we'll do. Now, I'm fairly confident that I know how we'll set up. If he picks the same set up and team as against Newcastle and the players give it their all, we can hardly complain, no matter the result...

    ...it's where we are.

Atletico absolutely battering Liverpool. Clawed it back to 2-2 after being 0-2 down. You have to wonder if VVD will get back to his best at this stage, I'd still say his 19/20 season was probably the best I've seen from an individual CB in this league.

Liverpool absolutely steamrolled them in that first 15 minutes, I thought it could potentially be 4 or 5. Fair play to Atleti for weathering the storm, getting back into the game and then ending the half in the ascendancy.

I know his style of play isn’t great but I’d love to have a manager like Simeone. Would get us good results at the very least.

Liverpool started really impressively, then faded like Simeone's hair at the back.
Lucky to go in level and I'm not surprised to see Klopp making a change. Game was getting away.

I really hate the way that they play, but it's almost the inevitable result of current attitudes.
Cheating, diving, attempting to get the opposition sent off, crying about everything...
If none of this is punished, then you're promoting it. It gives you an edge.

So, how long before Man Utd make an enquiry?

He’s done a very good job at Atleti but give me a Klopp/Pep over a Simeone/Mourinho type any day of the week.

He will be made out to be a victim but any manager who can jump from:

    - Sheffield United to Sheffield Wednesday
    - Blues to Villa
    - Sunderland to Newcastle

And not think twice about it - you have to question whether they deserve sympathy. The game is the game and his luck finally ran out.

That's a little unfair. His work is as a manager, do you expect him to turn down a job on the basis of loyalty to a club that's fired him in the past? Not like he would have Chairmen beating a path to his door.

Not sure if I have sympathy though, he is well paid and will be properly compensated. If I was him, I'd take time off to get a little healthier.

Newcastle really have hit the big time

The list of candidates to replace Bruce at Newcastle United has narrowed to Eddie Howe, Paulo Fonseca and Lucien Favre, who each held initial talks with the club last week. (90 Min)
