All other coronavirus that have transferred in to humans have evolved and create symptoms of a common cold.

There is no reason for this coronavirus to act differently. Hopefully this one has evolved to become more transmissible but less deadly. Its important for the milder versions to be extremely transmissible as it will just dominate the other variants in to extinction. A bit like the red squirrels and grey squirrels if you like. The grey squirrels don't kill the red squirrels but they just out compete them for food. This virus will be the same eventually.

Ironically, if the virus becomes much deadlier then it will be easier to control. People will show symptoms much quicker and will be quarantined more efficiently much like how we controlled SARS and MERS.

As it stands the virus is about as bad as it can be. There are limits to how far it can evolve. Like I said... hopefully this variant is the first one to take it down a notch. Fingers crossed.

Don't worry about it , it's only a mild cold , never knew how a mild cold could shut down half the world before , I already had covid in July 21 and got over it I now have the unknown antibodys against covid which people seem to have forgotten , half the world has got them , but yet they are trying to stop things getting vaccinated to normal they are sticking to the hidden agenda , when people say NO to the vaccine and boosters that when the pandemic will end , but if people keep taking the injections it will go on for years and lots will die from the so called vaccine and boosters , when I got antibodys against covid I have memory cells like everyone else which remember the DNA of covid and when a new varient infects my antibodys already can detect the DNA of covid inside omicron and will rise up and kill it , so I will get over that also and any other varient they want to sling at me ,

    From bbc....

When it comes to Covid hospital admissions it's going to become increasingly important to look behind the headline figures to truly understand the impact of Omicron.

With infection levels rising, it's possible a greater share will be incidental admissions - a patient with a broken leg who happens to test positive for Covid on arrival, for example.

In London more than one in five patients in hospital fall into this category - and it's a proportion that may be just showing the early signs of increasing.

Admissions for Covid are also going up, just not as fast it seems as admissions with Covid.

So direct Covid pressures are still on the rise but just maybe not as fast as headline figures suggest.

Another figure to watch is length of stay for Covid patients.

It has been falling throughout the pandemic.

If it falls again during this Omicron wave that too could relieve the overall pressure.

    Cases are skyrocketing.

Deaths and people actually in hospital are continuing on a downward trend over the last 3 weeks or so.

Even if hospitalizations do increase, the majority look like they are only in for a couple of days or so and do not go into icu wards. There was research finding the omicron is better at replicating in the wind pipe than all the other variants but cannot replicate as efficiently in lung tissue. It's this that causes serious illness.

I mean it's very early doors but signs are looking promising once we get over the initial hump of this.

There is no pressure on nhs even south African president said why are western democracys stopping flights to South Africa as omicron is a mild cold , why would people go to hospital with a mild cold infection? Does not make sense , like it never did from the start , we are being played.

It looks lke the best antidote to the Coronavirus is the Coronavirus, namely the Omicron variant. Highly transmissible but with mild symptoms there are very few hospital admissions and, even though cases are extremely high, deaths are continuing to fall.

I think it's reached the point now, with overwhelming evidence, to get back to normal. Stop testing every man and his dog and get everything moving again.

Unfortunately Saff from the PL board is unwell with covid and has had to call for an ambulance. Regretfully he decided not be bother with the booster jab and now would like everyone to know that you probably should.

I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing him well and that hospital treatment will be enough to see him fully recover.
