What's interesting about this "veto" is that it makes absolutely no ****ing difference to us. I'm still trying to get over how petty, ill-advised and pathetic it is. Some facts: - PIF can simply throw £300m+ at the club, not via sponsorship, and be well within FFP. - FFP is likely to be eradicated anyway - There will be so many arguments on separation for private firms like Aramco, Saudia, etc, that it would make no difference - It's restriction of trade so technically illegal It's a real head-scratcher. Only Man City saw the sense in it - but we have to further remember this is a Guardian story, nobody else is running with it. That could suggest it's not 100% reliable - I find it very hard to believe that 18 clubs would vote in favour, particularly when the likes of Wolves and Leicester are benefitting, and some of those clubs should know better purely from a legal angle. Give it another day, this story will disappear. The BBC and Sky haven't even bothered with it, it's a non-story.
Patience guys. Our time will come. I think this is all being blown out of proportion. There won't be mega sums spent in the interim (if at all) but a steady 50-100million a season would be great. Regardless we have people in charge who want what is best, footballing wise, for the club.
This! Sadly there's people already expecting too much and complaining. They'll get there in 5 to 10 years not 14 days
Did it ever come to light who the person in our squad was that was leaking things to the press? I imagine this Lascelles and Hayden stuff was leaked by the same person.
So what are Man City going to do about Ethiad, Leicester about King Power or is this only new sponsors. If Man City get to keep Ethiad as sponsors then there can not be any legal basis for not allowing Newcastle to have a Saudi sponsor, it is an anti copetition case all over again. How many other clubs owners have a stake in any sponsors?
If they have any sense they sign this tomorrow. 5 year deal. Then any rules that come in limiting amounts in some convoluted way need to be retrospective to affect us. And therefore affect everyone. Then they won't get voted in. My gut just says they won't do this. They'll go in slow motion allow new rules to be put in place and then have their hands tied behind their backs.
The media **** stirring won't get under my skin I'm going to enjoy every slow cut we deliver over the next decade.
Nah these people are proper players they'll defeat the likes of levy and his cronies. In fact they've already defeated them.. The fox is in with the chickens now..
Brilliant! Let's get the Saudi tourist board in as well. PIF has already been agreed to be separate from the Saudi state so why not?
