Not for the faint-hearted this one. No idea what the team will be, so here's mine: MacG; Barker, Elerewe, Pearce (captain), Purrington; Morgan, Dobson, Clare, Leko; Stockley, Davison. We seem to have bought a batch of useless wingers, so why play any of them?
If there are fewer than 6 changes for tomorrow night I'll be astonished. The team will get 10 minutes of vocal support from the kick off, assuming nothing goes wrong in that time. Then the groans will begin, and then the nasty songs.
Yeah. We need a good atmousphere to lift the team, but that goes both ways. Another duff performance and the fans will quickly tire. There's been so much crap this season.
If we lose against Accrington then surely the Sunderland game must be the last straw. Because whatever happens tomorrow evening, Sunderland are going to destroy us. I'll be surprised if they don't score 5 or 6. Then we really are into Karel Fraeye territory. The only respect in which Nigel Adkins' record this season is not as dire as Karel Fraeye's back in 2015, is that we have not yet taken any truly horrible drubbings under NA. No 5-0 or 6-0 thrashings (the 1-4 Bolton result nearly qualifies, but not quite). Next weekend that will change. The very least we need is 12 points on the board before Sunderland eat us alive. Not 9 points.
The longer we stay in the bottom four the harder it will be to get out of it. The 40 Accrington fans will enjoy themselves.
We've been through spells like this before, where you get sick of watching the away fans celebrating every game.
Our celebrations on Saturday were good, I'm not sure equalising to Lincoln in an early season game merited invading the pitch though
Southeastern and Avanti West Coast trains severely disrupted https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-58964711 I don't know if this affects anybody using the service to Charlton Station this evening...
The line running through Charlton Station seems to have had more than its fair share of problems in the last couple of decades. I used to use it every working day for a decade, beginning in the mid-1980's, to get to and from London Bridge. I don't recall many problems back then...
Really don't have clue if this will work or not. Sadly, Nigel may be in the same boat. Quite a few attack minded players in the middle, but quality over quantity means that may not be important. I"m nervous about tonight, but for all the wrong reasons.
Actually, this is the sort of game we win, when even the optimists can't see beyond a defeat. Can't see it myself mind.
