hdf: "Lewis-Potter again proved his value to City on Saturday when his terrific volley cannoned back off the crossbar before hitting the back of Middlesbrough goalkeeper Joe Lumley and going in the net, a much-needed slice of luck for a side severely lacking in the opening weeks of the campaign. That goal was a crucial one for City – the first time they’ve led in a game this season – and came just nine minutes from time against Neil Warnock’s Boro giving McCann’s hard-working side a platform to go on and win a first game at home this season to provide a real boost ahead of the latest international break." c'mon, baz, we led against preston from the second goal onwards. i know it feels like a lifetime ago, but your job's to remember that kind of thing. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...ews/keane-lewis-potter-leicester-city-6007249
Come on 'x' you know what he means, it's the first time we've scored first in a game. He may have written it awkwardly but don't deliberately misread it.
hes got to be accurate in these thing, especially when trying to sneak such comments past experienced computer folk!
Another thing about the Wilks goal is that it’s just as likely he could’ve ****ed up the square ball to Eaves. Had he fluffed the pass to Eaves, we’d all be saying he should’ve shot as he was through on goal. I think I’d be more worried if he tried to pass to Eaves than score in that situation as it would show a real lack of confidence. He scored. That’s the end of it.
My view is that it doesn't matter because Wilks scored. The most important thing for me is that Eaves was there. It was the end of the match and he still did a lung bursting run to get up there and give Wilks another option. That meant that the two defenders and the goalkeeper couldn't just concentrate on a single player, they were in two minds as well. By the time Wilks finally went for goal, Eaves was offside. I think Wilks actually took the harder route because if he had squared it early, Eaves would have had a tap in. Eaves presence had a big part in that goal for me. If it had bounced off the keeper, we would have had two players following up on the rebound.
Absolutely agree that his presence gave their covering defenders something to think about and helped create space for Wilks' finish. I've always said defences don't like Eaves physicality. He isn't always a tidy footballer but he was excellent at the weekend.
This has probably already been said, but there is a fair chance that Eaves might have missed that 'tap in'.
One of the many things in this world that we will never know. However, I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt based on his overall performance that day. It would have been easier than the one he scored in midweek. As I said, the important thing wasn't that he did or didn't miss a hypothetical chance he never had, it was that he was there supporting when he needed to be.
As Josh Emmanuel says The new system gave us a bit more freedom and rotation. That’s the problem with GM he allowed Ehab to dictate the system.
If you watch the game online, you may miss the clout that Eaves delivered on Fry. It was perfect retribution.
For some reason just before the start, the ref got down on his knee while both sets of players looked on bemused at his ****ishness. Poor feller.
