The Saudi regime is a family autocracy. The new owners of the Toon have members of said family as key personnel (chairman etc) . Tis very difficult to claim there are "separations of concern" between the actions of said owners and their national regime.
A mate of mine (Lyon fan) is absolutely convinced Messi only moved to PSG to get leverage ahead of the Qatar World Cup. It'll either be an expansion of the CL to include every PL side up to something like 12th place or an ESL. Perez will secretly be delighted with the takeover, if it had happened 6 months ago I have no doubt we'd be playing Super League football this season.
In a world containing many dictators and disgusting regimes (with Saudi Arabia up there with the worst) The official bodies of companies and sporting institutions do have the ability to exclude who ever they choose from their organisations and they will often be supported by their governments in doing so. Certainly in Britain such support would be there. It is clear that the blame for the current situation in the PL is with first the FA then UEFA and finally FIFA.. Money appears to be their only criteria.
Removing the STATE-backed blocking of BeIN Sports was one of the conditions of allowing the takeover, which is something that could not be demanded if it wasn't a STATE-backed takeover
Claiming the investment corporation is different to the Saudi state is one of the most disingenuous statements of all time. I can't find a stronger word but one should be invented for what they are claiming. If they had taken over Spurs (which of course is highly unlikely given its the Saudis), but any similar brutal dictatorship, I can honestly say that I would walk away. It would no longer be my team and I could not in all conscience support a team owned by that or similar regime. Let's see how much integrity some of the Newcastle fans have shall we? Because you can be sure that the Saudi's haven't finished with, shall we say, "a certain way of doing things". And the next time they do something of course it will reflect back on the club. To which they will no doubt say that they are nothing to do with the Saudi state. Which will be a lie.
There is only two rational explanations as to why the Premier League believes this i.) The Premier League are ****ing idiots ii.) The Premier League believes all football fans are ****ing idiots
https://www.pif.gov.sa/en/pages/aboutpif.aspx "As one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) has a world-class investment portfolio with a focus on long term, opportunistic investments, both domestically and internationally." https://www.pif.gov.sa/en/Pages/About-OurLeadership.aspx "Under the chairmanship and guidance of HRH Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Board is responsible for overseeing PIF’s long-term strategy, investment policy and performance." It's literally on their website. The board is lead by the Crown Prince and it's members are government ministers and advisors. The Premier League are just lying. It's that simple. They know nothing will happen.
The PIF Law document on that website explicitly states that the PIF reports to the Council for Economic and Development affairs and that the Council has the power to direct the PIF. It says it is a separate legal entity but it is clearly wholly controlled by the Saudi government. Presumably the PL would be happy if a criminal's pension scheme bought a club.....
There's now arguments between the ITKs about what is ruling out Bryan Gil, with one group saying Covid while the other says he picked up a knock on international duty Anyone else feeling like a member of the People's Front of Judea?
