So infuriating, Giannoulis with the ball in a great position, Pukki in the box with 5 defenders, nobody else even making a helpful run.
Co-commentator now arguing that that couldn't be a foul on Pukki because he was off the pitch at the time. Is that a rule? You can just assault someone waiting to take a throw and that would be ok?
Lees-Melou the next person to try a hopeful punt in the box for someone to try and get on the end of. It's not working.
For what it's worth, Law 12.4: If, when the ball is in play, a player commits an offence against a match official or an opposing player, substitute, substituted or sent-off player, or team official outside the field of play, play is restarted with a free kick on the boundary line nearest to where the offence/interference occurred; for direct free kick offences, a penalty kick is awarded if this is a direct free kick offence within the offender's penalty area.
I have a theory (which is probably rubbish) that mega-muscled players tend to have more injuries because they push their bodies too far. In contrast, smaller players with a lower centre of gravity and a slimmer body, such as Messi or Xavi, seem hardly ever to miss a match. But I'm probably talking rubbish and you guys will soon point out skinnier types who get lots of injuries.
I think he's starting the games despite lacking fitness. He arrived injured, missed the international break through injury, but he's already pretty key to the team so Farke would rather not risk playing without him.
Missed opportunity there, it’s another point on the board and a clean sheet which is good for confidence but we had the chances to get the win today.
Seems like a much better performance: another clean sheet. We had more chances than in past games in EPL, but our strikers were again not up to the task of scoring. Sargent came with a modest track record so, although he plays his socks of, he is not the quantity of striker required in this league. Pukki is probably feeling the effect of playing for Finland (and scoring 3 goals) but he is clearly not taking his chances. Not sure why Idah is described as a striker. Away to Chelsea next week and a draw would be a welcome result as we are very unlikely to win.
Brighton are fifth in the league and we looked far more solid at the back. Yes, they had a couple of chances but we had the better ones and frankly probably should have won that comfortably. Onwards and upwards.
