A strong argument that we are still coming up short when judged against relegated premier teams let alone anything stronger. Positives are we have players who are improving each season and still have room, and capability, to improve their performance levels.
Well that was a **** start to the weekend - I hate it when we're on the early game and lose. Total bollocks
Time to realise that we aren't in same league as the top 3 in this division. Didn't really turn up today, too slow from start and gave them way too much space to get into their rhythm. I said beforehand that if you give Mitrovic space he'll murder you and he duly did. Poor tactically from Warburton and Odebajo is ****ing useless. Until we tighten up at the back we won't make the top 6, you can't concede 2, 3 or 4 every single game it's just not sustainable. Yes we will score goals but to gift teams so many goals is clueless in my opinion. If its gonna be a case of outscoring teams every week then Adomah needs to be playing at right wing back cos Odebajo brings nothing to the party I'm afraid. Very poor day. Well done Lyndon at least for scoring again
All over after their second after working hard to get back in the game, show me another championship striker who scores those goals consistently, almost seems unfair that he plays in 2nd division
Sadly, I think deep down many of us are not surprised at this result. We've been shipping 2 goals a game on average recently against lesser opposition and today we were wide open too often. We're entertaining, which is a big plus compared to pre Warburton teams but we won't go up with the sort of defending we're doing at present. Mitrovic is a cut above at this level and his 2nd goal was similar to Charlie's against Everton. If Fulham don't go up I'll be gobsmacked...
Still think they'd struggle if Mitrovic got injured ! Tactics were pathetic today, we should've been pressing them from the off and harassing them into mistakes. Did Warburton even watch their game with Coventry ? Clueless
If we had 90 minutes like the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half we might have got something but we just weren't in the game other than that. Too many games we are squandering our possession superiority with schoolboy defending. I commented on Coventry's performance at the time saying I hope Warburton was noting their pressing but obviously he ignored that side of things. We need a regroup before another tough one against Blackburn. I think the quality and financial advantage the recently relegated sides have is creating a league within a league similar to the big six...
I keep reading posts that our defence is weak, needs more to be more organised etc... There is a certain bloke called Clint Hill out there who I believe is not involved at present. I' m mot sure where he is with his coaching badges but would love to see him involved and getting our defence sorted out.
The strength in depth of Fulhams squad is far superior to where we are and thats to be expected with their parachute payments. Splashing 12m on Wilson alone sums up the difference. That however doesnt excuse a poor performance from us. Says it all when Dykes was probably our best player! When johanson passes forwards he is great, apart from that he played within a 5m radius today. Great player but absolutely no engine compared to that little ginner they have. Put together with Ball in the centre is our weak spot which has been shown time and time over again. If we had a fully fit Field and Amos then that would be a hell of an engine in there. Gray looked like he was running in treacle. Very poor today from us even despite the quality of opposition.
Totally agree with that last sentence. The gaps financially are becoming even more apparant in the championship now.
I think the presumably fitness needs to replace both McCallum and Austin today, stopped any come back. Otherwise Adomah could have come on for Moses, and Austin stayed on. Moses seems to have lost so much of the confidence he showed against ManU. Why he rarely goes outside his defender and crosses I dont understand. Ability looks to be there, confidence not.
Was walking a coastal path in Wales until just before 3pm with no signal at all. So disappointed, but not surprised, to learn of the result. At the start of the season, most of us said we were not top two and we may still have a sniff at 5th or 6th. Bad day at the office against a team with PL quality and PL parachute payments to match. On another day, Willock's shot goes in and maybe a game changer. Onwards and COYRssss!
Essentially we were undone by two world class goals from a world class player who for some reason is playing in the second tier of English football. The start of the second half demonstrated that Fulham can be tested by the right tactics and I was briefly convinced the game could have gone either way. But Mitrovitc's wonderful second goal against the momentum of the game knocked the stuffing out of our comeback. The arrival of the hapless and hopeless Andre Gray didn't help matters TBH. We are really going to miss Johannsen on Tuesday.
