Shouldn’t take too long given the lack of runners

True that - I hadn't looked at the cards since mid-week, it has cut up pretty badly. Shame, but still some nice horses out early in the season.

    Probably just leave it at:

Impulsive One (in the opener) could be an absolute star. Hurdles incredibly fluently for a juvenile (despite making the odd mistake) and he can defy the double penalty here on his way to much better things. Very excited to see him racing again.

The rest of the card has cut up really badly. Sceau Royal goes well fresh but Silver Streak is mustard round Kempton. The listed novice hurdle could be of interest with Cobblers Dream looking potentially smart.

I might be proven wrong about Impulsive One, but I don't rate him that highly, it might be that he wears a hood and I hate that (one of many things I hate in racing). He has won two juvenile hurdles, but I haven't yet seen a good juvenile hurdler this season.

On debut he beat Yellow Mini (who was carrying a penalty) by 12 lengths, and that horse has been beaten again since, and then he beat Aggagio again under a penalty. Neither of those bits of form look stunning to me, and whilst he did it in facile manner, I wouldn't be backing him at short odds. He hasn't had to find anything off the bridle and it could be that any of these opponents could be the toughest test he has had.

Alan King has a very good record in this race, his horse was highly enough rated on the flat to be competitive and Camacho has sired a few decent hurdlers (and one very good one). Oliver Sherwood yard has been quiet recently but his horse is similarly rated and Champs Elysee has also had some high enough rated hurdlers to suggest that on breeding this is no forlorn hope.

So you've got two winners with hoods, versus two similarly rated newcomers who aren't running with 'headgear'. I would rather be with the newcomers!

I guess they are only "newcomers" in terms of jumping though Nass - both Rhebus Road and Painless Potter are pretty exposed flat horses. My understanding is that the hood is used to try and curb the horse's exuberance (Impulsive One has certainly looked a right tearaway in 2 hurdles races to date). As I don't bet I don't need to factor in his price, I just think he looks a very talented juvenile - but agree it is very early days and he'll probably end up a handicapper. I call it my own early season exuberance, getting over-excited as soon as I see anything that looks half-decent in October <laugh>

    Hello, everyone. Hope everyone A-OK.

The Blake's tried to claim a horse yesterday but were unsuccessful (boo hiss!). In fact 8 people tried to claim him - including forum favourite, the good Doctor. The horse in question, by the way, is Fort de L'Ocean and he went to Mike Roberts. One to look out for (notebook and all that), methinks, given the large amount of interest in securing said animal.

    Good luck all.

They've only had one and two more runs on the flat than the jolly, wouldn't say either are pretty exposed in comparison

Sorry, I meant in terms of experience (i.e. no longer young, green debutants)

Found very little when asked. Not sure what they can do with him now. Double penalty to carry in juveniles and surely not going to be good enough for graded juvenile races. Milton Harris form is continuing in great manner.

Yep he looks to have a good one on his hands there.

I guess the only option with Impulsive One is going to be handicaps right? He was rated 127 prior to this, probably not going to be put up for coming 2nd so that might be a mark they can exploit? Wasn't there a stat about 3YOs in handicap hurdles?

I wouldn't be backing him in a handicap, I think we might see him win next in a novice chase <laugh>

I expect we will see him in a graded juvenile next, he'd be better in on the conditions of the race and they could use him as a marker for the others in the yard.

To the person controlling the Dubai Racing stream: Stop switching from RUK to Sky Racing whenever there is a race at Kempton you twat.

I thought Tulin was going to hose up there (so did Harry Cobden from the way he was looking round before 2 out) but he didn't find as much as the winner. Fav very poor.

Lovely turn of foot from Sceau Royal to win that - his first win at Kempton I believe
