The biggest terrorism "growth" is domestic so maybe it would cover this but there is talk of the the accused being Somali (online) ... no idea if this true or not ... but it'll give the extreme right yet another excuse to spread their own vile hate. The world of politics is ****ed imho and has been for a long time. This will just be used to polarise things even further. ****ing depressing tbh
I'm not extreme right, and you haven't suggested I am, but any reason for this murder, whether terrorism or not gives me great concern. Why you try to deflect/justify terrorism by polarising your comment to the far right beggers belief. How about calling it out for whatever the reason. You say about vile hate, but murder is about as vile as you can get. The only person polarising on here so far out of all the comments is YOU.
Then obviously I ain't made myself clear. I ain't interested in a row ... like I said, I just find it depressing.
You made yourself perfectly clear. The reason for the MP's murder hasn't even been established yet, but you went and wrote a rant about the far right. No one on here had mentioned, left, right, confirmation of terrorism, non terrorism but you felt the need.
Maybe RCL if you want to bring far right narratives to this board and can't moderate yourself, then take it to the Spurs board, where PNP can welcome it.
I didn't bring any link, I said I wonder why counter terrorism is involved, which I wasn't expecting. RCL then went on a far right rant, everyone else showed thoughts, including me towards the MP. I'm not sure if these far right narratives are welcome on the Spurs board, but I suggest he keeps them there, the reason for the MP's murder hasn't been established yet, unless he knows something I don't.
I obviously haven't made myself clear... If I had then you wouldn't be pissed off at what I wrote. I think, from what I read on line, that the key suspect is a Somali. I fear the possible reaction from the extreme right as they will target innocent people. I generally stay away from social media other than here and one or two other websites but stupidly read stuff and there is already a lot of **** flying around. Some of it racist and some of it pretty ****ing heartless about him "deserving" it cos he was a Tory. When Jo Cox was murdered some blamed those who were Brexit supporters... I thought that was unfair and extremely polarising and led to a poisoning of politics. My original post is an expression of my complete frustration and lack of faith in any party, left or right to make anything better... I genuinely find it all depressing. If this still comes across badly then I apologise for not being able to express myself better.
I've not seen anywhere it being mentioned as a Somalian that was arrested, except from you. As I said I just assumed it was over some domestic policy, by that not meaning or even thoughts towards it beng terrorist related. If it is terrorism then I am shocked, and would be at the same time very concerned. Regardless of whether you are left, right or middle ground, we should all be very concerned about domestic terrorism as we should be about the murder of any MP for ANY reason.
The Telegraph have claimed that their security sources say that the suspect is Somalian: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...amess-stabbed-multiple-times-surgery-church1/
Sir David Amess dies: Somalian man, 25, arrested on suspicion of stabbing MP - latest news (telegraph.co.uk) Absolutely shocking. This is an MP who fought hard for refugees and animal rights. He was clearly a good bloke in todays estranged world of politics. RIP
I think killing any politician is an attack on democracy... I hated Thatcher but killing her would not have been acceptable After Lee Rigby was murdered racist incidents went through the roof locally. It was grim. If the suspect is Somali (now being reported by the Telegraph) I fear the same. I've not got a far right narrative about the murder just don't really fancy racists seeing me and mine as a target.
The independent have reported the same. No word from Police confirming & obvs no mention of possible motive.
This may not be terrorism just because the lad is Somalian... I don't think anybody should jump to conclusions. What is hard to ignore, is that language from Labour MP's is poisonous and needs reigned in. Raynor calling Tories 'Scum' and Pidcock with her 'I could never be friends with a Tory' is divisive and polarises politics and makes it us against them. Totally against what democracy should be about. The attack on IDS very recently and now the murder of a Tory MP should set alarm bells ringing.
It's just the way it is. The narrative is already being written... Terror police will probe murder of Tory MP Sir David Amess: Cops arrest 'Somalian man, 25' Counter terrorism officers are leading the investigation into the murder Tory MP Sir David Amess, police have tonight confirmed. It comes after horrified onlookers screamed for help as they tried to save the Conservative MP who was brutally stabbed to death in front of them at his Southend constituency surgery. The popular politician - who won at the last general election with a margin of 14,000 votes - was knifed 'multiple times' by a 25-year-old killer - believed to be of 'Somalian origin'. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...Amess-holding-constituency-surgery-today.html
It goes back to what some were saying about social media, and in particular the likes of Twitter and Facebook. The bile and hate being spread on there is unprecedented. There's a real poisonous atmosphere on there and it's stoking the division and this violence imo.
If those are the divisive comments from politicians that bother you then I’m not sure you’re really that bothered about divisive comments at all, mate.
