    Team News:

Mikel Arteta has the luxury of a near fully-fit squad to pick from for Arsenal’s clash with Crystal Palace on Monday.

Granit Xhaka is the only major absentee as he is still recovering from a knee injury picked up last month.

Gabriel Martinelli is also a doubt after picking up an unspecified injury last week, but he was unlikely to start anyway.

This should be a quite good. Palace have looked impressive this season, haven't quite got the points they deserved - very good against West Ham, Tottenham and Brighton.

It will be an emotional return for Patrick Vieira, hopefully the occasion will get the better of him and Palace roll over, because they have been decent like you say, without getting the run of luck in those games.

Yeah it'll be very weird. I suppose our equivalent was when Lampard came back with Derby in 18/19 in the cup. I've really liked the look of Palace under Vieira - the media were quick to write him off but he's got them playing better football and Eze/Zaha/Gallagher/Olisse will enjoy themselves this season I'm sure.

What’s the expectation of Gallagher amongst Chelsea fans? Is he expected to make the grade at Chelsea or is he a youth player that you’ll sell for a sizeable fee?

Sadly I think the latter but I actually prefer him to Mount. Seems like he'd be a good Kovacic replacement.

As far as I know, Vieira is still involved with the consortium headed by Daniel Ek, who want to buy Arsenal from the Kronkes. That group also includes Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp, so there's definitely a strong connection with Arsenal for Vieira.

And yeah, Palace have some cracking players and some big African units in that squad. Eze is a baller.

    HT. 1-0.

Well, after a blistering 25 minutes where we were totally swarming them, we did what we always do. Don't capitalise on all our chances, waste possession in promising areas and then allow Palace to grow into the game. They probably should be level at least.

Palace have figured out that they can get 2v1s on the flank quickly and can bypass midfield easily when Benteke/Ayew can hold up the ball with their back to goal, as any pass/run splits through our non-existent midfield. Pepe needs to get back to defend quicker, as Tomiyasu is having to deal with two key threats on the left hand side. And Partey needs a more solid partner than Odegaard, who isn't doing enough to stop Palace transitioning.

We are too stand-offish and not pressing with any intensity in central areas. Only Aubameyang appears to be showing any aggression off the ball.

Diabolical challenge from McArthur. VAR reviewed it and stuck with the on-field decision <doh>. What's the point of it, if they're going to side with the referee for quite blatant red card offences?

The VAR team apparently said it was a ‘high end yellow’ whatever the **** that is supposed to mean ?

It was violent conduct. Straight red

1-1. Benteke. Deserved. We’ve not started the half well enough and Palace have come out swinging.

Its not just the half weve not started well. Out of all 8 league games weve had this season, I would say only Spurs at home did we ever look 'good' or convincing. its simply not sustainable. Arteta ball just doesnt work IMO.

Let’s be honest, a more ruthless club would have sacked him last Christmas when we went on that diabolical run of form. How he survived that is a mystery. Then he had a mini revival but Emery outdid him over two legs. That was the second point where he should have lost his job.

Vieira has been at Palace for 2/3 months and has Palace playing better football than Arteta has with Arsenal for 2 years. Palace’s players aren’t better than ours, yet look at the difference a decent coach makes.

    This is utterly embarrassing.

my biggest fear is with this new project youth they are prepared to treat this season like last season, where he can get whatever results and still be ok.

    Great attitude from Lacazette.

You have to wonder about this performance though. This is now the norm under Arteta - play well for a game or two then the intensity drops and points start dropping.
The fact it keeps happening just shows he doesnt know how to fix the problem.
