Having faced the sides currently sitting 2nd and 3rd in the table in our last 2 league outings, Gills will play 4th placed Sunderland next weekend - Can we pick up a point or 3 against The Black Cats?

I have faith in the manager, even if we get relegated, I even have faith in the players. We took until January last season to get it right and become a formidable force in L1, barring a few final hiccups that saw us lose out on play-offs.

Sunderland are meeting us at the right time for sure, and we are meeting them at the wrong time or are we....I dare say Evans will be studying very closely their undoing at Pompey, so don't be surprised if the groundsman gets the sack and the boys are out there with the digging forks.

Currently I think we are going to get battered, I just haven't decided yet by how many goals. Let's see what develops during the week, before deciding. Although three 2-0 defeats for us in October, is not very inspiring.

I'm feeling optimistic o-5 ( can't be bothered to name the Sunderland players )

.... can I play my 'joker' - with our defeat to Doncaster, I say that Evans is out of the door on Wednesday

We have about 6 players out for this match. All forward players, too. I think this will be a really tight game.

We've played 3 games this month, two in the league and one efl cup, lost all three by 0-2, so any help your lads can give us in the charity point funding pot, would be very much appreciated.

Hi, I always like to pop on and have a chat with the opposition before games.

It goes without saying that Sunderland are very confident just now. This is not the same team or club you have been used to over the last three years. There is a genuine belief that things have changed from top to bottom at the club. The new owner has come and made very good appointments across the whole of the club and we can see a very clear plan of where we are going and how we will get there.

The first part of the plan has been to stop buying players with experience of playing in League 1, there is a reason they are still playing at this level, instead we are looking at a very data driven model of recruitment, decide the style of play and the attributes needed to play in each position and find players whose data fits each position and don’t get panicked into buying anybody who doesn’t fit that plan.

As a result we have a very young team with a lot of skill signed from good clubs, going from the back, the new keeper is from Bayern Munich, across the back line we have a 17 year old Doyle on loan from Man City, he looks a very good prospect and will play for the senior England team, he has played at every age group up to U20, we signed England U20 left back Cirkin from Spurs on a permanent contract, the 19 year old turning Spurs offer of a new contract down to join us. We have also brought in Huggins Wales U20 international for the right back place, but he is out with a back injury just now, we also have Alves a Danish U20 international on loan from West Ham.
In midfield we brought in Pritchard from Huddersfield, formerly at Norwich and Spurs, he hasn’t really go started yet and is a bit of a gamble as his time at Huddersfield was not a great success. Cory Even the Northern Ireland international has looked good in the time he has been on the pitch, injuries limited his game time, as well as the home grown kids playing well enough to keep him out.

Up top we have brought in Dejaku, also from Germany, officially from Berlin, but he signed for them from Bayern then move£ to us before he even got to their training ground. He has a slight knock from the Germany U20 game last week, so might not be on show. The other one to arrive in the summer is Broadhead from Everton, he is currently out for another couple of weeks.

All of those arrived over the summer and two signings from the last window two other signings from January are also making an impact, Ross Stewart was injured when we signed him and is the reason we were not bothered about Wyke moving on, Ross is faster more mobile, can hold the ball up better than Wyke brings players into the game and works his socks off tackles defenders and midfield players on the halfway line as is if his live depended on it, he also scores goals. The other signing from January is Carl Winchester, he was a bit of a slow burner, looked sort of ok in midfield last season but nothing special, but moved back to right back to cover the fact that on the first day of the season we had not signed Huggins or Alves, so didn’t have a recognised right back, since then he has been outstanding and it will be very difficult to get the spot of him, he has also chipped in with goals as well.

Two others who feel like new signings are home grown Embleton, who was at Blackpool on loan last year and played a big part in their promotion. Another lad whose progress has been held back by a couple of injuries, but have played for England at every level up to u20, he is the most genuine two footed midfield you will see, it is hard to say which is his best foot. The best of the bunch however is Dan Neil, a true talent and we have to get promoted to keep him, he is possibly the best young midfielder I have seen play for Sunderland and I am 63.

So the recruitment has been on a different planet to that of the previous owners and all for frees or less than £1m, we have not spent half of what we spent on Will Grigg to assemble the whole new squad.

As to the style of play, we have pace all over the park and use it. A lot of fist touch passing, flicks turns and running at defenders. Midfield players are always looking to go forwards , for the last three or more years our midfield has passed either sideways or back towards our own goal. We will press up on your back line at any opportunity and close the space down quickly. All in all we are enjoying watch the football for the first time in possibly ten years.

So why have we lost two out of our first 15 games , winning 12?
Burton was a game in which we played some really good football and should have been 3 or 4 up but conceded a good goal and lost the game, Portsmouth might give you more hope as we lost that because we kept the ball on the ground on a waterlogged pitch, passes stopping only a few yards away from the player making the pass, while Pompey sensibly went airel and that caught us out and we were well beaten, if there is a way to beat us you probably need to play like Pompey and prepare a pitch on which we can not pass.

The thing which might catch Sunderland out over the full season will be playing on wet muddy pitches in the depth of winter, but on a good pitch we will be expecting to beat any team in this league, we know we won’t as the team is very young and they will make mistakes as they learnt, but on a pure ability level, for the first time in this division we genuinely believe that we are better than this division, that is not arrogance based on us being. “big club” but on the team and the style of play.

As this is a prediction thread I suppose I better give you mine, I think it will be 3-0 to Sunderland.
Enjoy the game and beat all of the other teams but not us.

Algarve Gazette interview with Mr Evans here in the SUN. Good Morning Mr. Evans. Aye. The Gills Supporters Club has run an INDEPENDENT survey and they are not happy with the way things are at present and MIRROR seasons when we have been relegated.
What the F%£K do you F%$£@%G supporters know abt F^%$£@G football, F%$£*%G W$%(@£S. You stand on the touchlines every game trying to instruct the team only to be stopped by those F@£$*&G W$£^&$S in black blowing the whistle and telling me to stop F%$£@&G shouting. Its their F^%$£&%G fault. stopping me. I'm given the F^%$£$G job as GUARDIAN of the team. Its TIMES like this that make me F%&^@£G angry TELEGRAPH that to the T%$$£@S who think im F^%$£@G useless. Mr. Evans, I cannot EXPRESS enough how we feel and I am only trying to get the answers on behalf of all those loyal supporters who pay your wages. You F&^%$£G W£$%@R F%$K off. Kicking the table over, throwing the chair out of the window, Mr Evens leaves the interview.

Well I see another beating today sadly
