Each Way...opened up at 7-1 with four places

    Had a few minutes so

Haydock - I am presuming that a going stick of 4.6 is more reliable than a going reading of soft - gd-sft in places

2:20 - Be Proud 28/1 & Lincoln Park 40/1 Each Way (6 places in places)

This is a hell of a race, but I thought both of these were interesting on their earlier form with the reliable Mr Wagyu. The former ran a belter in the Stewards Cup (the one where everyone in the crowd wears Panamas, not the flat cap wearing Scottish version) where he was produced widest of all and stayed on very takingly. He has since run creditable races where the pace has held up and he hasn't been able to finish with his customery late rattle. Today he should get a pace to run against, and being drawn low should hopefully help him to get a clearer run.

However, on soft ground they often come up the high numbers and that is part of the reason Lincoln Park is interesting. This horse ran well behind Mr Wagyu over course and distance, before winning a couple at the dogtrack Chester. He has plenty of form on softer ground and at this course. Yet he has drifted to 40/1!

    The less speculative ones are

    4:05 - Ffion @ 7/1

I don't get the drift on this one at all. I think conditions today are perfect and we know this horse likes the course

    5:10 Whitehaven @ 11/10

Another with such strong claims on ground similar to today.

    16:15 Uttoxeter - Splinter

(Very much an outsider in this event, but might surprise and reach a podium place. Certainly well-bred, the gelding's sire being the Group-1 winner Garswood. Harry Bannister rides for the A. M. Hales yard. 25/1 is available in all places at time of writing, so e/w of course!)

One placed at 28/1, another at 9/1 and the winner at evens. Not too bad a day but hardly vintage.

is it going to rain soon? Need some good jumps racing!!

The 3.58 at Fakenham nearly ended very badly when the loose horse (who had just been stood there for a circuit) suddenly decided to run across the 2 horses fighting out the finish and caused Jamie Moore to unseat from Larry. You'd have thought someone could have restrained the loose horse in the time between him unseating his rider and the rest of the field completing a full circuit of the track?

Did you see what happened yesterday's Wincanton race 16.05? I had a bet on O'Faolains Lad 9/2 and nearly had a heart attack at the end. I recommend watching the last two minutes of the race.
