The change in the club has been massive, just goes to show what can be achieved when a new owner takes over and puts a talented management infrastructure together THANK YOU KLD . A massive thank you for the full management team and players who have all contributed in getting the club running professionally after so many years of mismanagement .
My Man Utd mate on fb just said “well what do you expect, it was your first team against our kids”. He’s gone quiet since I pointed out that we are getting fined fir playing a kids team!!
Sometimes, like us at Portsmouth, you have to just accept the best team won on the day. I wonder how many of their 'kids' he even knows.
Isnt it great to see the young lads performing. I agree with others that Younger looks ready. I wasnt 100% keen last season as I thought we played under pressure too much as we didnt keep the ball in midfield. Now though we are better in midfield and the dedence always has an easy ball into a midfielder he could do very well. Defensively he looks great, has that happy knack if being in a good position as be reads play well. Wearne too looks a good prospect but maybe not quite ready for first team, but if he keeps developing like he is he wont be far away for next year. One I like for the future is Sohna. He looks a nice footballer. On the ball he looks really composed. I am looking forward to ser how he progresses, he could be a top quality player in a year or two.

i guess we all see things differently depending what we look for. i would not say he had a great game or he is a brilliant player but considering this was only his 2nd 'bit of football' since his long injury problems he was certainly more into the game than his last outing...but it does seem that some 'fans' cannot wait to stick the knife into some players, i prefer to give them time and i am sure LJ will be taking note, the good thing this season is that we do not need to rely on just one player and have good reploacements across the pitch. on the penalty, have seen them given and 'anywhere else on the pitch' it was a foul, imho of course.
We have some utterly ****ing stupid fans. Had this been someone like Doyle or Onien after a long absence, they’d have said “did well. Looked rusty but understandable” and been fully supportive. Ladies and gentlemen I give you the fans new target as a scapegoat!
Simple reason is he came through the academy, a lot of our fans want to see youngun's come through then expect them to be world beaters straight away.
depends on the 'expert' i guess, many say if it starts outside the box (as this certainly did) but continues inside the box (as this certainly did) then it is a penalty...personally, i would give a foul on the edge of the box as i always think fouls should be given where the offence occured as many a time we see a player try to keep his feet but in the end has no option but to go over and it could be a yard or two from where he was tripped.
watch the match yourself mate he deffo should have had a penna ,got hacked from behind brought down not even a foul given put in some very good crosses, while he definitely isn't up to match fitness he showed good glimpses of what he can do and is capable of, I would suggest the people slagging him didn't watch the match and have gone mouthing with an idiots recommendation
He came into the side when we were desperate for a LB, he probably was too young and not ready. Before he was injured he was starting to fill out, get stronger and defending better... he had learnt on the job. IMHO, other than Mcgeady he was arguably our best player. Although he lost a bit of kudos by delaying signing a new contract. He was badly advised being injured did not help him.
i think some forget he is still a young lad and was basically 'hoyed in at the deep end'...as you rightly say he was learning on the job and imho was improving, got some decent balls into the box against the 21's and showed he still has his pace, still not the finished article but i honestly fail to see why some need a 'boo boy' in the side.
I for one am very pleased that Denver is still at the club and he will I am sure play his part fully in a very fruitful season for SAFC and make these doubters who ever thet are eat their words.
