Woeful performance, a lot of the blame must go to the manager. it was obvious Kane and Sterling were way off their normal. I would have taken them both off at half time. Saka when he came on when receiving the ball constantly played it back to a defender. the only one showing any decent attacking intent was Grealish, cant for the life of me understand why he was taken off.
Last game Southgate made no changes, his decisions last night were equally as bad.

Totally agree marra, I was so looking forward to the game but unfortunately we didn't turn up. Hopefully Southgate analysis and learns from this.

When does Southgate's contact end again? Absolutely abject performance from England.

As much as I think Southgate has done well he has been propelled by the embarrassment of riches that he has at his disposal. I think that he is a mediocre manager who has hit on lucky with the timing of his appointment (lets face it, he was probably seen as a caretaker manager until he got a few good results and got the job permanently. Also, Sam Allardyce was picked ahead of him and only got the gig when Sam got caught being naughty). Cant help wondering how a better quality manager would manage with these players and I hope we get one sooner rather than later in order to find out. Southgate deserves the Qatar World Cup. But once that ****show is out of the way, unless he wins it, we should look into replacing him, and we should be looking at candidates now in preparation. Some world class or near world class manager must surely look at our squad and wouldnt mind having a crack at it. We need to entice that manager sooner rather than later because before we know it we might have slid towards mediocrity again and it would by then be too late.

As soon as we play a team that are up for it, well organised and carry a threat up front we bottle it.
Yes Pickford had little to do but I was more anxious when Hungary attacked us than I bet their keeper was when they were defending.
Southgate doesn't seem to know how to rectify things when plan A doesn't work, his subs are appalling, reminds me of Parkinson, he took off Grealish who was at least was trying and left that useless twat Sterling on unbelievable Jeff.
World Cup quarters for us if we're lucky under Southgate.

I can understand keeping the ball and try to get the opposition to chase after it but it all seems so ponderous and slow when England do it. If the are to keep the ball well, it needs to be a lot quicker. Like everyone else, I can't understand why Grealish was taken off as he was causing the most problems. Kane was shocking, yes he didn't get much service but he didn't really offer himself into space but ended up in midfield to get the ball. He should stay in the tram lines of the 18 yard box and stay on the shoulder of his defender. I thought Mount was workmanlike but if a change was to be made I would've brought him off instead of Grealish first

Grealish and Foden our 2 best players. Only 2 with anything about the,. I’m not a big Grealish fan as I think he’s somewhat overrated but he was good last night and hit subbed. Sterling and Kane you could’ve got me to do their job and I probably would’ve managed!! Utter garbage

As I’ve previously said I don’t like grealish and he was full of himself importance
    However
I think he has knuckled down and realised he has to work at his game and not take things for granted
I now feel he can be a major part in the England set up and is most certainly worthy of his place

passing the ball around your own defence, in your own half does nothing to hurt opponents...they are quite happy to leave you with possession while they get organised at the back.

if you are going to use that 'style' of play then you also need quick breaks plus have the passing ability to make the opposition have to chase the ball, that is, if your aim is to tire them out..if you are just letting them sit and get a break it wont work...all they did was keep their shape and we did not have the players on the pitch to break them down or play through them, the rare times we came close to worrying them was moving the ball quick down the wings.

Good to see we've all thinking the same re Southgate, looks like he’ll need to adapt fast or move on after the next world cup

He is a good man manager but he hasn’t got a clue tactically. Getting on well with players will only take you so far.

I thought it was idiotic to send the police with truncheons, into a volatile crowd, on the basis of a comment to a steward.

Seriously, is an ignorant comment worth all that.

Arrest him at half time or full time ffs.

It just looked like we're trying way too hard to make a point.

A curate's egg alright is Southgate.

He deserves real credit for bringing on all the young players. No other likely candidate would have done this. They might say now that they would have, but we all know different.

But then there is his freezing in the big games. In the semi against Croatia, and the final against Italy, there must have been a million people yelling at the screens, shouting for an extra man in midfield who could hold the ball. I'd say his, and some of the player's CL inexperience counts against him here, and he doesn't look as if he is learning. A pity he didn't have an older guy, someone like Venables, in his ear at times like this, rather than a bench of people who are reliant on him for their jobs. Maybe his ego won't allow it.

He also has a baffling blind spot for certain players. Taking Grealish off last night was absurd, and told you so much. He clearly doesn't rate Sancho, though last night cried out for him, even for half an hour. Same for Vardy. Interesting that these three lads are all strong characters.

I dont dislike southgate but although his record says hes done well in major tournaments you really have to ask have we?

The last world cup and euros we were gift wrapped a draw to the final. We failed big time against an ageing Croatia and were abject in the final against a relatively underwhelming Italy.

Both tournaments were there for the taking and we crumbled when the pressure came on. Is that southgate or is that the players mentality I really dont know.

1 thing I do know is playing a back 5 and a midfield of Rice and Phillips in the euro final against an ageing back line when we had a squad with so much attacking potential made me sick and basically summed up the typical English mentality of trying not to lose and ultimately losing.
