...oh look, somebody else ignoring the fact he was offered Tielemans by Levy & Hitchen and said, no, he wants Ndombele and nobody else
One of the most under rated players in a fantastic team. Aleksic/ Clemence Hughton Roberts Miller Perryman Villa Ossie Hoddle Galvin Crooks Archibald 1981 and 1982 Two world class players Plus six well known names And 3 or 4 (in 1981) relatively unknowns Put them together and they were a great team and a joy to watch.
Great match (**** video) from that era. Possibly one of the best attacking performances I've seen from a Spurs team. The goals were sublime and the football at times was breathtaking. Fast, one touch passing! (The defending maybe not so hot) Vince Hilaire got sent off into the bargain as I recall.
What the squads of 81-85 sorely needed was a CM equivalent of defender Robbo, in order to have had a chance of winning the league (the perennial MF "steel" problem that Spurs have rarely resolved in my lifetime) .
Fantastic lineup, but so attacking and unbalanced. Good defenders and keeper/s, yet they need some protection.
To win the league, you are going to have to beat contenders whose attacking control in MF is at least as good as yours (if not better) . We know it in recent times when comparing Pochettino 2016+2017 to Arry 2012. Much older hands here will be able to tell us whether Danny + Dave exerted MF control during the "top of the table" clashes.
This remains, by a mile, the best tackle I have ever seen live. I was behind the goal with some mates and we were just shell shocked. Could not believe what we'd just seen.
The second best tackle I have ever seen live was of course Jan Vertonghen stopping Helenius by pulling his pants down
Good to see him making a good start in his new job at Bournemouth, they’re going well at the moment and it seems he’s made an impression already.
