So it's going ahead and we've named our strongest possible squad. No Stokes cos of a 2nd bout of finger surgery ( colossal loss that can't be filled ), no Archer either ( another massive loss, and puts a huge amount of pressure on Wood as the only genuine pace man). Always gonna be a huge ask with those 2 available but without them it could be insurmountable. Top 3 as always the big problem and still don't know who will bat at 3. Broad expected to be fit in time for 1st test but can we rely on him and Jimmy on those wickets. Rotate them I expect but no way can Wood play all 5 tests and the 2 spinners are woeful. Every time I see Bess bowl I'm expecting a full toss or rank long hop. So I'm fearful but hopeful lol, what do we all think are our prospects ?

I expect this, but am not sure what shape the Aussies are in.

Their bowlers still scare the **** out of me, Cummins is a machine that seems able to bowl all day. Stark moves it late and seems to scare our batsmen while Hazlewood just seems to land it on a sixpence every delivery. I'm expecting Smith to revert to bat for 2 days Smith and Labuchagne isn't far behind. It would be just like that little weasel Warner to return to form too ! Time for a calming brandy now I've scared myself to death lol. Only up point is I don't rate their captain, weak point in my eyes. Should target him big time

I also wish we had Lyon, such a threat on the 4th and 5th days on those wickets compared to our spinners ! Really can't believe we don't have someone better than Bess. Shocking

    It's a dreadfully weak bowling line-up.

Even IF we were going well, it’s an Ashes series, so in effect, form goes out the door. I must be honest and say l really don’t know wtf is going on and the last person of interest l followed from an Australian side was probably Steve Waugh.
He was a fine captain and an excellent batsman and fielder.

Today’s lot are a bit too busy getting more ink and taking selfies or alike.

As a true blooded Aussie, l wish a good series be had by all, that COVID doesn’t interrupt the series and that we send you lot home with squat!

Whoever wins, l hope it’s a good game, played in an ethical manner. Long may test games and Ashes series last.

I suspect that, with that squad, we have between little and no chance of getting anywhere near to challenging for the series.

I can't understand why Livingstone hasn't been called up, middle order is calling out for someone with his destructive power. I know he's in the 20/20 squad, but Bumble reckons he's been doing enough in the County Championship over the last 2 seasons, he really should be getting a go now in the Test side. Disappointing

Ben Stokes has declared himself fit and has been added to the Ashes squad. Excellent news.

Still not going to make a lot of difference to outcome, maybe 4-1 instead of 5-0.......:(

With a bit of luck one may get rained off so it’ll only be 4-0
