With the takeover of Newcastle there was a fear that the women's team would be disbanded.
Their PR team were swift to allay any fears with a new squad photo published.

A huge bag of riches, the flavour of Newcastle will never taste the same again! I think back to the days of rugged Malcolm McDonald....he was ugly! They will buy success like Man City and the others, but they will never again have what we at Cardiff have....a bag of Shhiite! :emoticon-0103-cool: Manure for sale!

I totally agree with you there Maskee. I'd much rather stand in a half empty stadium supporting the team I've followed for over 40 years than these clubs owned by multi millionaire conglomerates.
As I've said many times, football is all about money now in it's various forms and I do hope we never go down the road of buying a team because we have wealthy backers.

Oh cum cum IB, I used to go to watch Cardiff City, from a young tit back in the sixties....it was mainly dour then and dour now....difficult to shake it off, try as I may! I saw some dreadful dross and would welcome some money in the club which in turn would rid us of dross! John Toshack, Brian Clark, Tony Evans, Adrian Alston, Ivor Allchurch, John and Mel Charles are the highlights from all those fugging painful years! Fug me Irish I would welcome some stars to entertain me....you’ve missed my point chum! :emoticon-0103-cool: Give me some class! Incidentally IB, you know that there are not two e’s in Masky....don’t be like Clingy!

Hmmm, did I miss your point Maskrey? I’m a bit later than you as I didn’t start watching Cardiff till the late seventies.
I remember I was in holiday in Gambia a few years ago when we were in the Premier League and the Bluebirds were playing Man Ure at home. The match was on the telly so I settled in with about a dozen Man U plastics to watch it. You would think they were the only team in the world but when we scored just before full time to bag a 2-2 draw I jumped onto the table and screamed. I must admit I did scare off a few of the plastics and as soon as the final whistle went they dispersed very quickly. Only one guy in an England shirt came over to talk to me after the game and when he asked why I was supporting Cardiff I told him that was where I live so I can only support my home town club. Fair play he was a nice guy but this incident just confirms the reasoning behind my desire to not follow Arab rich backed clubs who just buy success.

Sadly yet another club now with mega rich foreign ownership.

Of course the FA and Premier League were going to approve the sale as soon as the commercial TV rights issues were sorted.

Yet more money flooding in to the league. Will likely send the player "arms race" spiralling further, meaning the likes of the Citeh Sheiks, Manchester US Devils, Liverpool Red Sox and Chelski will have to go digging even further into their cash reserves to keep up... hoovering up the best and most expensive players in the world... I mean, who cares where the money comes from eh?

I wouldn't be surprised if the FFP rules get tweaked permanently after this... use covid as the ongoing excuse for not being sustainable for another year and then, in a move similar to the ongoing temporary £20 per week universal credit uplift furore, claim you can now longer do without the "temporary" change...
Thus clearing the way to carry on overspending and relying on ever more wealthy backers.

The Premier League was created in order to generate more money and by christ it's doing it by the oil well load now... sadly none of it is for the good of the game.
