Following their deeply frustrating goalless draw at home to Group E minnows Estonia, Wales' hopes of qualifying automatically for the 2022 World Cup are all but over. However, the Dragons are almost certainly guaranteed a World Cup play-off place due to their Nations League results last year. Despite the draw against Estonia, Wales enter their away double-header level on points with the second-placed Czech Republic and with a game in hand in Group E. However, Robert Page has, yet again, a depleted squad to choose from, with Ben Davies and David Brooks joining Gareth Bale is missing trip to Prague. In Bale’s absence, Aaron Ramsey will captain Wales in Prague and also against Estonia in Tallinn next Monday. With respect to previous fixtures, the omens are not encouraging for Wales because - including their games as Czechoslovakia - the Dragons have lost every single competitive away match they've played against the Czechs, losing all six in either EUROs or World Cup qualifiers, most recently in September 2006. Furthermore, the Czech Republic have only lost two of their last 16 home major tournament qualifying matches (W10 D4 L2) and have won six of their last seven (D1) since a 2-1 defeat to Germany in September 2017. That said, the Dragons did beat the Czechs 1-0 in Cardiff in March through Daniel James' late header. Turning to Friday evening, as much as I’d like to be positive, I cannot see Wales coming away from Prague with anything other than a defeat: 3-0 to the Czech Republic. I hope that I’m wrong
Funnily enough, I was thinking a 3-0 defeat. However we haven't lost many games by that score in the last few qualifying tournaments. As long as we don't try to play for 0-0 we have a chance. COME ON WALES !!!
Can't see us winning this with the team we are likely to put out. I can't see us shipping a few goals but I can't see us scoring either so it's a 1-0 defeat I am afraid.
The trouble is that the interim manager does not exude confidence with the wish washy set up of the team. If they can bore the pants off the Czechs we could sneak a one nil win but please don’t play the Leeds striker.....
Been pleasantly disappointed with Czechia - I thought this would be backs to the wall, but I'm sensing we can win this.
