    I worry this won't mean an awful lot...His followers will be oppressed by a largely totalitarian government from the other side, I can't see there being peace there for at least a generation!

    Democracy doesnt work in these tribal countries. Another autocratic leader will take over who will favour some and oppress others, however this will be minus many of the big perks and comforts the Gadaffi regime gave it's citizens due to debt incurred in this conflict.
    Neither will NATO sit around go clean up the humanitarian mess (was humanitarian concerns not the initial reason they got involved), America got what it wanted. Libya's oil will be sold in American dollars once again and not gold as Gadaffi had planned.

    Edit: the reason I mention the perks and comforts is that once these people realise that post-revolution Libya could well be alot less comfortable, the proverbial **** may hit the fan once more
