thanks for sharing. A brilliant win, however Boro very wasteful in front of goal, on another day that could have been a loss. However, today I’m very happy with a lucky win
Thought we'd gone behind at Preston then fought back .. thinks that's what they were referring to, actually scoring the first goal !
Not lucky, but we rode our luck. A couple of boro one on ones they fluffed could have had us 2 down. We persevered and got a break with the first goal for sure, but that was reward for being bolder and keeping at it. 7/10
If it is a lucky win when the opposition made and missed some chances, we have been lucky 1000s of times over the decades.
Easy answer….watch the highlights, Boro had the better & more chances to score, with more clinical finishing they could have easily scored 4
Magennis is injured. He didnt 'lose his place'. Eaves wouldn't have made the bench against Blackpool if Magennis was fit. Also, if we had 2 fit fullbacks we'd have played a back four.
I do get that thought too, but I think after the results we’ve had this season, McC had to do something different, if we’d lost yesterday, I think even Ehab would have kicked him out. McCann’s very lucky, hopefully he takes that luck & moves on with City to much more improvement. We’re now, out of the bottom 3, & 7 clear of Derby.
You could argue he's been unlucky in previous games. It just balanced out in this game. He's bought himself some time. 3 forwards have now scored so we'll see what he can do now his strikers have a bit of confidence back.
Oh the highlights? That's what the game is based on then? It's there own fault they didn't score, you could say that about every game then. Let's just watch the highlights to make a judgment. You can have what if's all the way through what if he didn't get tackled we might have scored? We deserved the win. End of.
I thought it was typical greedy Wilks who got lucky as it was a stretched defence when he does is dribbling/shoving this season he falls over and gets be ball took off him. As evidenced by his later pathetic attempt when running the clock down he dived instead of keeping the ball and taking pressure off our defence
I thought we dominated the first quarter. They edged the next hour. Ingram kept us in it, but their finishing has been an issue over the last couple of seasons, and they still sold three strikers who would walk into our team. Does that make us lucky? We wanted it more.
Obviously Wilks wasnt going to pass but Eaves did stray offside at different points in the build up. We were describing a recent par I got at a par 3 hole. I topped the ball, it rolled 140 yards through leaves and we eventually found it on the green. I described it as a Wilks shot, he does seems to top them but they always end up in the back of the net. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I could repeat mine.
Here’s a thought, I may be a bit thick here, but if Mcann played last season in the formation we all tend to believe is no good - yet we got promotion ! Is he persisting with it because with the right players doing the right things it will work ? Remember it’s not the formation that always causes our inability to finish that’s more often a quality issue. However In Defending or occupying the midfield it’s a real doubt - does I work for other teams in any division Just asking?
Here's another thought, a step up in quality! Championship standard teams and indeed managers work things out, they know whats coming until yesterday, they know how to combat it, and know how to get round it, all the while we have the nucleus of league 1 players who dont know how to adapt against what's been thrown at them and a manager who is likewise flummoxed by it all. The standard in the Championship is raised from what we played against last year, flexible.managers recognise that and play a formation to get the best out of their squad to combat what's in front of them or change it to adapt.
