This team can frustrate like hell … but they do have a fightback inside them. Some scrappy goals tbh, but did enjoy Dykes pinching the ball for the first and his dogged determination to get the ball for the winner for Ilias - just what the Dr. ordered. We needed those points and winning in adversity isn’t such a bad thing. But I would love a comfortable win (next game would be an excellent time to start along with a Johansen winner).
Seems like every game this season has been close, even when we won 3-0 at Hull I think, it looked like it could have gone the other way for a while. Oh for an easy 6-0! At Fulham maybe......
I’m taking this one. For the first time I can remember I had to leave early. Saw the equaliser, said we were now going to win and started to leave, just down the stairs with my back to the action the crowd got excited and noisy and turned round to see Chairs goal. PNE a horrible team to watch with the cheating but they could have had us today. The back 3 and Dieng seemed to have met for the first time at kick off. Dunne was very dodgy indeed.
Christ we do make it hard for ourselves, one way traffic, nob end just chasing shadows and 1 up, thinking is this the day we score 4 and stuff a team, as it’s been coming. Then it’s 1 all from a sloppy messy goal and half time. How the blinking eck is it 1-1. second half 2-1 them with another give away. Really hate Preston a ****ty anti football team of soft moaning lumps, that along with half a dozen other sides spoil what could be a quality league. I read PNE have taken 13 points from the last 6 games from us at home and here we are again. But we do have a good team that stick together, try hard and have a togetherness that finally got the 3 points we so deserved. We needed the 6 points this week to put us back in the mix and got them, super hoopsa
We really are playing some attractive football but keep making costly errors. It's exciting to watch but frustrating as well as we should be out of sight in so many games. I have to say I can remember not so long ago when we couldn't string 3 passes together without losing the ball so progress has been spectacular but that leaky defence is stopping us getting the results our play deserves. Hopefully the break will give us the chance to bring some injured players back as some big games coming up...
Very pleasing result, and the character we showed to win it. As has been said, that's character we didn't show a year or two ago, so very encouraging.
Thank you Stan for having to leave early and predicting what would happen. Dykes was amazing today...as was Chair... We were all over them until they score their unlikely equaliser..I said to Terry where the f&&& did that come from? But they took over and were well worth their 2nd goal. Then all of a sudden...an offide goal and 2 real goals in about 10 minutes. The ref...only added on 4 minutes, was that him sorting out Prestons ****housery. If we had been behind I think they would have added double that!! My only worry is I think the Lancashire Evening Rag, says Preston are asking for retrospective action for Dickie stamping on one of their players. Hope that is rubbish. Hell of an afternoon. Home, tired, wet but happy
What a great afternoon out! It's all been said really so just so happy to have got the win especially after PNE started their time wasting tactics with 40 mins to go! We have some amazing players and it is great to see them pulling as a team. It's very pleasing to be sitting in 6th before the break. Hopefully we'll have a fighting fit team ready to take on Fulham.
Looks like quite a frustrating and exciting match that ended well. I saw the half time score at 1-1 and then that we were losing 1-2. It is great that we staged another great finale and took all 3 points.
What a great result! So many positive comments from one & all. Happy Birthday to Col and good health to all those of us who are feeling it. We’re in the mix now, sixth place it is.
Something I just remembered ...and probably a game changing moment. Ball who started badly, giving away the ball in bad areas. Did not have a great first 60 minutes As we came back into it...the ball squirmed away from us in front of our penalty we really need the ball back, we were being pushed...Ball charged after it...we could all see a sliding late tackle and a red card coming up...and chasing the game down to 10. But somehow he pulled out of the tackle by bundling himself over...not only saving the red card but distracting PNE. Great decision making and we and he really stepped after ...and the rest is history. Although not the greatest technical player but he does have a football brain
Cracking game, great atmosphere pissed wet through enjoyed it bar the result https://www.not606.com/threads/queens-park-rangers-v-preston-north-end-loftus-road-2-10-21.396045/
Respect to you for coming back despite the result. Serious question for you, and honestly not goading, but what is your take on the reputation that PNE has for time wasting? At 2:1 up, your men were falling like ten pins with 40 mins to go!!
They were, you are right. very pleasing to see Preston players moaning about our players doing it, karma eh!
I agree all clubs do it. Not quite to the extent I saw on Saturday though. Time for them to stamp it out. Could move to a rugby/NFL style system when the clock is only ticking when the ball is in play, or give a mandate to refs to issue yellows far more quickly, and warn clubs that players will get sent off if they start playing games at 46 minutes and repeatedly time waste.
