It’s a good win and good that he changed things, so well done terry. One swallow doesn’t make a summer though Wetherspoon.
Thats true. But sometimes i think we want to be ****e so we can say we were right about the player/manager. I want them to prove us wrong, McCann did that today. Lets hope he can use it as a plan A or B to suit himself. Whatever your thoughts on McCann the man. I think he has shown massive determination. I thought he weakened when naming players but he would have slapped himself for that afterwards .i think the manager isn't battling above his standards. He deserves this chance and without his best player he is doing ok
Oh come on. He's been as stubborn, inflexible and arrogant as ****!! Great, we've won a game. One game. I, like most of us, wish / hope he succeeds, but he really hasn't done himself or the squad any favours whatsover with his approach so far. Today was great. A refreshing change. But let's not get carried away. And let's hope it was an unforced decision to finally accept that he needs something other than just 4 3 3, isolated forwards, etc week after week
If he is going to persevere with 352 I wonder when Coyle and Elder get another game? I don't think either of them could have improved yesterday's performance.
Agree wholeheartedly. Listening to his post match interview I think it was a forced change. He listed the fullbacks out of action / not available. Did he do that for Ehab to hear or are we going back to 4 3 3 when Elder is back. I sincerely hope not.
-> Elder in place of KLP. That role is made for him just as Emmanuel's wing back role is. KLP in place of T Smith (with Wilks and T Smith as very good back ups) -> Coyle waits his turn behind Emmanuel (and as a very good back up, and an option to use in the more central midfield too if needed) -> Wilks as a back up for either forward (that's the trickier one). Then we are spoilt for options .... other than perhaps for the 3 CB positions.
Agreed Look where potter scored from? Central That’s where he needs to be putting the fear of god up big clumsy centre half’s He’s wasted out wide Elder is ideal for left wing back
Suspect it'll depend on Alfie, thought McLoughlin looked a bit iffy when he came on. More rusty than anything, let Sporar get wrong side a few times, he really should have scored the 1 on 1 chance
Considering that was his first outing in forever I thought he played really well, and would only get better with a run out, he seems to have a bit more physicality about him for me.
Yes, I'd quite like to see Hudd in that role. We've got the extra defensive solidity and he'll get a lot of the ball.
If Elder was fit we'd have played a back 4. The difference today was strikers scoring, not so much the way we set up.
Of course it was down to the way we set up, we weren't dominated in midfield like normally therefore didnt run on empty for the last 20mins like normal. Playing the 3 forces the players we have to become stretched, thereby leaving spaces all over the park for the opposition to run through at will as has been evidenced so many bloody times this season. Having a 5 man midfield with the quality we have allows players to cover the gaps. Hence why the majority here having been asking for a change in formation for god knows how long.
Name one game this season were we haven't gifted chances which haven't all been taken ? Give ya head a shake man
