Didn't get the early goal, glaring miss from BDCR which could have sent us on our way to a win, but BDCR missed a few along with Mitro shooting off target, then we were hit on the counter attack. Typical of their keeper to be MOTM. Ultimately we didn't take our chances, but Muniz took his goal well, but picked up an injury and may be struggling for the game against Leeds. Both Robinson and Cavaleiro need to practice their crossing which was woeful at times, they seem to hit and hope rather than target a cross, when Kebano came on his crosses were more accurate.
I'm guessing that it's a different side tonight against Leeds, as the U23 played yesterday and a few regulars were missing from the lineup. No Stansfield, Pajaziti, Sessegnon, Francois, Fossey, Bowie or O'Neill. Interesting to see if any are involved in some capacity vs Leeds. Wonder if Christie, Hector, Kongolo will all get game time, may be even Knockaert. If Muniz has recovered from his injury along with Reed should get game time, and I expect Joe Bryan to play. If I was a Leeds fan I'd expect Bielsa might look to put out a strong team if he is looking to get a cup run to a possible final.
All valid points, SBMcB. An opportunity to rest most of the 1st team, and not expecting us to be in the next round draw. I just hope we don't get slaughtered in this one.

Back to first team action today, away at Ashton Gate and Bristol City, 3pm. A good performance from our second string against a partly weakened Leeds in midweek. Having made more chances and shots than Leeds, we were unfortunate to fail in the penalty shoot out. Harrison looks to be out for this one, and although Tom and Kongolo are still not fit enough, they are training with the squad. Francios is sidelined too, and haven't seen the latest on him. I think Antonee will be back in, but we need to sort out who will be linking up with him on the left, Kebano would be my choice, or try Quina there. This will be a tough game, our record isn't good against them either.
Swansea at the Cottage tonight, live on Sky. Harrison and Kebano should have booked their places for this one, following their affect against Bristol City in the 2nd half. We are playing well, dominating our games, so the only real change needs to be, being more composed and ruthless in front of goal. We make plenty of chances, just need to be converting them.
A good performance despite a 2nd half enforced change to our formation when Bryan went off. 7 out of 10 shots on target and restricted Swansea to only 1 on target. Mitro is on fire, and it's enjoyable to watch. 3 - 1
Excitingly, next up is Coventry City at the CBS Stadium, 12:30pm, live on Sky, and live in person! Yes, tomorrow is my first game for quite some time and really looking forward to it. Can we keep the more ruthless finishing going, will Coventry bounce back from their bad defeat at Luton? A little early for team news or speculation, but who cares, when you will be there!
Three immediate thoughts: 1. Why rest two of our best players (Tosin & Seri) ahead of an international break? 2. What more evidence do we need to give Rodak his chance? Gazzaniga clearly does not have the confidence of his defenders. 3. Why is it we implode once we go behind? We really lacked leadership in the second half and after two mistakes (the Gazzaniga mispass and Robinson's dangled leg) we just fell apart completely. Very frustrating performance. Marco Silva has some important work to do in this international break.
It was just one of those games, we had control 1st half, then..... A real cock up and gifted the goal, and it was going to be downhill from thereon. The penalty was ridiculous, no contact, but the ref influenced by the crowd and gave it. There was no coming back, and it was only to get worse. I've yet to see a replay of the incident that made Mitro loose it, it looked like he was bundled to the ground. Once that went their way, hope was lost. I had best keep away from games until promotion is, a given....................
Says it all, BBC report below, Matt Godden charged with diving. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58809997 Does the ref get charged with incompetence?
Today we host our neighbours QPR, 12:30 and live on Sky. Tom is back, but I think too early to start. Fabio and Tete are still out. A tough test today, and much to play for. We need a win.................
A good win, but need to put teams to bed in the 1st half. Funny that QPR fans were trying to blame the Ref in the 1st half. We let a sloppy gaol in after a mix up from Odoi and Kebano, miss communication Odoi went for a short pass but Kebano was wanting a through ball. Still both players did well on their crosses for Mitro's 2 goal. What a ball in by Kebano in for Mitro's 2nd. Bryan and Cavaleiro going off injured effected the flow a bit. Not sure why Wilson was taken off, may be for Chaloba to be more defensive. Rodak didn't have too much to worry about. Chair and Johansen looked good for QPR along with Dykes being more of a threat when he came on, but Bobby DC Reid with the 3rd goal settled us down again.
Tonight we have Cardiff City coming to Craven Cottage, 7:45 ko, live on Sky's red button. Cardiff on a run of 6 defeats, so will be as aggressive as they come, and making life difficult for us. Hopefully our quality, aggression and confidence shines through. I think Tom may well be on the bench, with an unchanged starting eleven, other than Cavallaro. Fabio is back in training following his isolation from Covid, I didn't know he had it! A win is needed to keep pace with Bournmoth, who won again last night. I really don't want to finish behind Scott Parkers side........
