What document exactly was is that was to be signed. If the PL intention was for that document to be signed to avoid the CAT claim then that is manipulating the situation. No different to forcing someone’s hand to get a desired outcome. No different to forcing KSA to be a director. Which in turn leads to the O & D test failure. Disgraceful.
The PL is just not very competent. I mean, sure, they look like they control multi billion pound deals but really I’ve always maintained they're just a glorified marketing department acting on behalf of six clubs. Is it any surprise that they can and are being manipulated by big powerful entities like Man Utd and BeIN? Not really, the PL themselves are only a shop for the league and it’s clubs. They’re not even a particularly big organisation and clearly lack leadership or sense. They’ve mistakenly overreached it would seem in terms of their power and intelligence, with both being found out due to them being stupid enough to take on someone as grotesquely obstinate as Ashley. I’ve only got the one question - what in the name of **** is separation anyway?
The proof is in the pudding. The big six even have pre meetings with the PL to discuss things prior to them being discussed with the rest. Beins TV deal was negotiated without anyone else having an opportunity to bid. They had 100% control over it. Prior to that they lobbied to the PL teams prior to it being rejected. And probably bullied the PL to do so. The PL and Bein probably came up with the separation argument then.
In normal circumstances its where the Mrs prepares to **** the bloke over legally by taking the house, car, kids and cash in the bank.
It would actually be really easy to resolve. A brand new company called Saudi Sporting interests or something. With an initial chunk of cash from PIF. They then buy into the consortium. The consortium then purchase NUF Ltd and in turn purchase the club. The problem with this theory is the Saudi's seem to be insulted at having to go down this route.
The conspiracy theory about beIN extending their contract without the usual tender process pointing to some form of fraudulent behaviour, doesn’t hold any water, as the PL extended the current UK deals with Sky, BT & Amazon at around the same time, again without tender & on the current terms. It was part of the recompense for the disruption caused by COVID. beIN lobbied about the Saudis because they’d stolen their rights to the Saudi market, that beIN had paid for, and had enabled the piracy that replaced it. You lads seem to forget that way before PIF appeared, the PL, UEFA, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga & FIFA had all tried to start legal proceedings to stop the piracy in SA, but were blocked from obtaining counsel in SA, so they issued a joint statement about it back in 2019.
just goes to show Bruce is as thick as pig **** or he is playing a game from the BBC Bruce does 'not have a clue' about CAT hearing Wolves v Newcastle (Sat, 15:00 BST) please log in to view this image Alistair Magowan BBC Sport Asked further about the Competition Appeal Tribunal regarding the club's takeover, Newcastle boss Steve Bruce said he had not been following it. "Can you fill me in on how it's gone?" he asked a Sky Sports reporter. "It seems a bit complicated for me. I'm going to be brutally honest and say I’ve not got a clue. I’m aware there is a hearing going on, what it's all about, where it's going you will have to ask other people. You probably you know more than I do." However, Bruce did know enough to pick up this reporter's mistake about the name of the QC for St James Holdings. With apologies to Daniel Jowell QC, not Justin Howell QC. Ahem.
The difference being though - Sky, BT and Amazon didn't write to 19 other PL clubs stating that if the takeover went through then they wouldn't pay as much for the broadcasting rights. I blame a lot of this on the PL being either too greedy or too stupid to sell continental packages in parts of the world they clearly don't understand the volatility of. If BEin had pissed off, another broadcaster would have taken their place. In addition to this, and this is just my personal biased view. The fact that SKY and BT got to show every single game more than compensated them. BEin was banned in Saudi Arabia due to the Qatar anti Saudi propaganda adverts running during sporting events and general programming and had its licence revoked due to this. Saudi banned all things from Qatar as did U.A.E and Egypt due to Qatar's refusal to stop hiding terrorists and funding terrorists. Low and behold guess where the Taliban rocked up? Saudi haven't been found guilty of piracy - The W.T.O report stated that they didn't do enough to prosecute on behalf of BEin and didn't do enough to protect the IP. No where have I seen it stated that the KSA were guilty and behind BeOutQ. If I'm wrong please point out where this has been shown. The Saudi's however had countered that with a genuine clause with regards to being in a proxy war with Qatar that the W.T.O stated they understood the reasoning behind but that the Saudi's had not used the clause in question reasonably in that particular case. The Saudi's have since appealed against this finding.
For anyone who missed Wednesday's match of the day - A re-run is now available from the morning session Ian on Twitter: "For those who missed the CAT stream, here is a brief summary of #PremierLeague 's defence case.... #nufc #takeover https://t.co/4VbkyZhokM" / Twitter
Sure, but it is fundamentally not BeIN's right to lobby the PL on a clubs independent ownership. The two issues are "separate" if you like. Fit & proper is supposed to dictate the solvency of the prospective owner, as well as whether criminal charges exist or would exist anywhere. MBS wasn't going to be named a director, so the PL abused their position, made up a load of obfuscating bollocks, let their opinions be influenced by the greedy 6 and let confusion reign. And why? Because the "big" PL clubs didn't fancy another Man City turning up (and if it was Everton, you'd be up for it and we'd be gutted) and because Qatar, who owned the rights, simply wasn't friends with KSA. Occam's razor - I'm not a fan of the wild conspiracy theories, but the bottom line is it's all been murky, unfair and probably unlawful.
They were lobbying on the grounds that the people who’d been stealing the PL’s IP were wanting to buy into the league. Allowing the Fox into the hen house. The PL is merely the 20 clubs who make it up plus a token share for the FA. So the Saudis who’d have been buying a stake in the organisation not merely a football club. MBS is the chair of the company involved, and he is the State. He could have avoided all of this by setting up a completely separate company to get involved with it once this issue was brought up, but his ego and stubbornness stopped him from doing so. The house of Saud aren’t used to hearing the word No, or being questioned. So he chose instead to **** off. As for Everton, we got taken over by a Billionaire with massive pockets, who’s invested about double in 4 years than this Saudi consortium was on about investing in Newcastle in 5. We’ve now fallen foul of the PL FFP rules are have had our collar felt, partly due to other clubs complaining - Villa being one allegedly, the cheeky hypocritical ****s. So we can’t spend any money at the minute and have to wind back the wage bill massively. Again, you all ignored this aspect whilst drawing the Man City parallels. A club can’t do what City did anymore, as they changed the rules to ensure it can’t happen again & we’re the first real example, as our owner is wanting to spend, but can’t.
Exactly this - The PL O&D test is simply to clarify who the club's directors are going to be. If the consortium has enough financial muscle to cope with unprecedented events and if anybody being named as a director has any history of bankruptcy or is legally banned from holding a position as a director. The PL have over reached this by usinf some bullshit hogwash theory along the lines of "Oh well we want anybody and everybody who could have an outside say on the day to day running matters named as a shadow director". Well in that case you better get SKY SPORTS and BT SPORTS named as directors because they have a huge say in the day to day running of every club from fixture lists to finances.
