Don't understand how Coyle gets so much stick on here. I think he's consistently one of our best players, and thought he was very good today aside from the bookings. Also surprised at how many votes Jones and Greaves are getting. I really think we're weak at centre back both in defending and when we're in possession.
If I see one more launched ball out from one of our centre halves. It’s shocking and it must be an instruction, it’s dog ****. We repeatedly give away possession cheaply.
Docherty - Needs to make more of those runs through the middle as in last 15 minutes. Cannon - finally got a start and looked good Eaves - our first goal in nine (?) games !!!
1. Doc ... as ever got around the pitch but he was severely hampered by the fkwits tactics having to cover so much yardage 2. Eaves .. yes .. Eaves .. the ball actually started sticking up front when he came on and for his goal deserves a mention. 3. T. Smith .. this lad needs a run in the team, I think there's a player in there It's blatantly obvious that confidence is shot, for me Wilks needs pulling out the firing line, KLP as well, I'm sure they are trying, perhaps too hard, but their decision making and ball retention is shocking. Moncur flatters to deceive at the minute but you can understand why when there is little to no.movement in front of him.to find. The rest need organising and although it's not gonna happen need a change in formation. We played our best football last season with Alfie playing in front of the back four, why he isn't doing this is beyond me, why he is consistently asking 3 to go against 4 in midfield every week is beyond me, we have the likes of Emmanuel and Elder, quite capable of performing a wing back role, even Coyle who is putting so.many yards in, just try something new ffs, instead of the same shyte every week, so blatantly obvious, and pedestrian, give the lads a chance to compete in midfield, give the front men a chance instead of them being constantly isolated. It really isn't rocket science !
errr - 2 games - Sheff U - we've scored two home games on the trot now - the last time we recorded 2 home goals on the trot in the Championship was 14 Feb 2020 - so McCann has excelled himself at the end of the day
Docherty KLP Eaves, took his one chance well. That is 20 mins of 1st team football for big Tom this season, 1 goal, 1 assist.
i always find MOTM so hard at the minute, even when we are playing ****e and losing every week i dont often think many of the players have absolute howlers , but in the same token i never think anybody plays that well , think thats half the problem, most just put in 5 out of 10 showings and play it safe, therefore not getting hammered but not looking like winning games either.
Agree with this And it’s a new manager who will push them to be 7/10 or higher. I still say moncur is one of the few who looks comfortable and with a good enough touch tho
I'm regularly baffled by peoples MOTM votes, many seem to have watched a completely different game to me.
Docherty KLP Eaves ( He took his chance well, and from where I was seated he was very emotional afterwards. )
Yeah that's how I see it too. But I don't think it's effort or anything, I just think no one seems to be able to create space and break lines. That picture Sterling posted in the match thread of Jones having no one to pass to, it's like that all the time, you can see there's nowhere for us to go with the ball, so we end up eventually just slinging hopeful balls in and that's about the only time we get in the box. I think McCann puts a lot of focus on winning the ball high up the pitch and a lot of our attacking threat in the last couple of years has come from that. We are at times quite good at getting the ball in those positions, but we're so wasteful when we do get it that it rarely comes to anything. I don't think he particularly values controlling possession and building attacks, or if he does he's just not very good at coaching it. It's irked me since 2019 how bad we look on the ball under him.
