.., prior to RTB's match thread. No offence to Cheltenham, who I think are doing really well, but this is a really good chance for us. The locals around here are saying they've just lost two important defenders, plus a striker, and they've no strength in depth. There are various other games where I hope our rivals can tear each other to pieces. Rotherham and Wycombe both had red cards, yesterday, and that can only help us as the season progresses. I'd like to see endless draws starting on Tuesday, it's almost always the best result for us ... ... providing, of course, we win. Burton Albion (15) v Portsmouth (10) Cambridge United (12) v Gillingham (19) Charlton Athletic (22) v Bolton Wanderers (9) Ipswich Town (21) v Doncaster Rovers (24) Milton Keynes Dons (3) v Fleetwood Town (18) Morecambe (16) v Lincoln City (17) Oxford United (13) v Accrington Stanley (7) Plymouth Argyle (4) v Crewe Alexandra (23) Rotherham United (5) v AFC Wimbledon (8) Shrewsbury Town (20) v Wycombe Wanderers (6) Sunderland (2) v Cheltenham Town (14) Wigan Athletic (1) v Sheffield Wednesday (11)
Slightly off topic but I can’t wait for the return fixture against Cheltenham. I live about an hour or so from the Cotswolds and it’s so beautiful. Will try and get a cottage for the weekend I think. I fancy Sheffield Wednesday to maybe surprise a few people and maybe pick up a point or three against Wigan.
The results yesterday were pretty decent tbh. A lot of the sides you'd expect to be up there drawing with eachother while we won. Hopefully Wednesday get something at Wigan.
I can probably help mate, keep me posted. I already have some of the lads staying with us but have some great options quite close ... ... perhaps we can all taxi in together.
There was 6 draws yesterday, that's twelve teams we gained two points on so for me the obvious way forward is to keep winning whilst everybody else share the points, which is exactly what Smug was alluding to I think, every game is important but three points in Tuesday would be massive for us.
As long as we take care of ourselves we will be fine this season imo. A few knocks (Doyle, Cirkin and Gooch) to contend with but we have the squad depth to cope. Christmas/New Year will see everyone's squads tested, ours is quality and will see us home. If we are struggling, it will no doubt be addressed in January. Teams in bold will win on Tuesday. No idea on the other ones.
I'm hoping we finally put our chances away and have the game wrapped up by HT. Is it asking too much to be sitting in the SoL having a relaxed 2nd half.
I notice most sunday papers avoid printing our attendances ! 32,000+ and it costs £29 where i sit, but season card holder and saved a fortune.
Interesting isn’t it, at this early stage I know, we have beaten the teams in first, third, sixth, eight and ninth in the league in our five wins. Our form is looking good, and being stamped by that of the opposition we’re beating. I agree with smug btw, let’s keep winning but Wigan, mk, and Plymouth to start dropping the odd points here and there.
Purely because Cheltenham will be making a long trip oop Norf for the second time in a few days I'm making this one a four or five nil banker. There, that's poxed it.
We just have to keep on winning and the gap will open. I do think both us and Wigan will win tomorrow though.
