The Portsmouth connection continues. Chichester seemed to have a few ex-Portsmouth players: Gemma Simmonds (who ironically is a Southampton fan I believe) and Sadie Blakeley, who played for Portsmouth for a while along with her girlfriend Charlie Wilson. She was a really good goalkeeper. A few years ago they were controversially axed, a few matches into the season. It seemed a total BS decision that was not at all a footballing decision. Indeed, they'd got married that summer so not saying there was something malicious about it, but... I'm not sure why you'd get rid of a striker who scored 3 goals in 6 games and 16 goals the previous season (and only two seasons before that, another 15 goals in 20 games). This was the statement at the time: After careful consideration in the last few days, Portsmouth FC Ladies have decided that goalkeeper Sadie Blakely and forward Charley Wilson are to be released from the club. Manager Perry Northeast met with both players earlier this week to inform them of this decision. Portsmouth FC Ladies would like to thank both players for their contribution to the club and wish them well for the future." --- Both players had more than 100 appearances for the club. Make from that what you will. Also I believe Lauren Clark played for Portsmouth too.

Ah London Bees. Crap name, but they were formally Barnet. They were also formally in the Championship (getting promotion via committee), and of course as anyone with experience of women's football knows, if you're not in the Championship you are considered 'worthless'. How the mighty have fallen.
