I know it's easy in hindsight and we may make a remarkable fight back but I don't rate Harrington as a captain. Looks a bit weak and i cant imagine him motivating the team. They look flat as **** apart from the Spaniards.
Atm we are getting stuffed, I am just about heading off to the SoL, dreading to think what the score will be when I get back!
Too many of our players are not playing well here. It looks over already. This afternoon it has to be all out attack. Anything less than a 3-1 and it is a procession tomorrow.
Another battering. Could of and should of won that session . The Europeans look totally deflated and to be honest defeated.
Well these fourballs have to be huge for us, 3-1 at least. Middle 2 pairings look good. Hatten didnt play too well earlier I though and I would have been tempted to keep Weissberger in. The bottom pair owe us something, poor so far. I was worried Poulter was a sentimental pick and Rose would be better on this course, hope Poulter proves me wrong now. We neee something...
Shame Hovland & Tommy couldn’t sink puts… .as for Rory, his mojo ain’t right at all. put him out against Morikawa, who looks like he’ll win anyway
Been looking forward to this for ages, what an anticlimax....as mentioned by others Rory, who we normally can count on simply hasn't performed, infact he has dragged down the partners he has been put with. But this is a world class USA team who are doing what they do pretty much every week.
I agree that McIlroy has been a disgrace. He's looked totally disinterested from the word go. Too many of our players are out of form or just not at the standard needed. Harrington has had a mare, for me. You can't blame him for the form of the automatic qualifiers, but 2 of his Captain's picks shouldn't have been there. Poulter has done very little for years and didn't warrant a place. We needed players on form, not picks out of sentimentality. If this match was in Europe, Westwood would have been a good pick, because tee to green, he's excellent. However, because of the wide fairways and trimming of the rough, the matches in the States tend to turn into putting competitions or who can belt the ball the hardest. Westwood's weakness is his putting and he's not a massive hitter. Why Harrington persevered with Westwood and Fitzpatrick in the foursomes and McIlroy and Poulter in the fourballs, after they showed nothing the previous day, is perplexing. Justin Rose would have been a good pick, but he had a bad back injury in March and has been feeling his way back. Europe are going through a bit of a transition at the minute. Former legends are aging, and the promising youngsters, like Mannessaro and Fitzpatrick have failed to kick on and become the superstars it was once hoped they would. We are left with good, steady players (Rahm excluded), but not very top class players like we once had. On a positive side, Novland, Rahm and Wiesberger have performed well and look set to be stalwarts in future Ryder Cups. Just got to try and salvage some pride today.
