There are facts on both sides, I agree but those facts are current as of today so the most pertinent and shows that the UK is far from the worst off in Europe when paying for fuel. Which throws out some peoples arguments about blaming Brexit etc for fuel hikes. And we can't compare our costs to that of America for example, because they use a vastly inferior oil which I wouldn't put in my Mrs 1 litre Polo, let alone my car!

FWIW, I think people can expect oil and gas prices to continue to rise because the industry is finally turning the corner. More and more drilling campaigns are beginning which only means one thing. Being an offshore worker I naturally keep an eye on these things and in the past few weeks I've actually been head hunted by a drilling company and offered around a 25% wage rise... These companies are getting desperate for experience again and the rise in wages shows the confidence these drilling companies have. Will we see $100 plus barrels again, highly unlikely but if you look at the historical average cost of oil, it's around the $70 mark and at that point, companies are making a sizeable profit. The usual profit cut off point is around $50 but these days some companies can actually start making their profits for considerably less.

Yes, although it was a mistake as it meant I had to open the caviar myself.

That's all logical and correct from my very limited knowledge.

I can only look at things generally and Brexit doesn't seem to be doing us many favours, not that I'd blame it for every single thing that goes wrong.

I just don't see many benefits at the moment, hopefully that will change. I'm not such an idiot that I want the current government to fail, I'd love them to be a great success. My children, and particularly grandchildren, are having their lives affected so I desperately want the country to flourish.

I'm not aligned to any party so just want whoever's in power to succeed.

Yes, and it takes a lot of effort to push that button. I had to have a lie down afterwards.

EU countries have an energy price cap, so it’s absolutely brexit related.

The need for plentiful drug money donators. They used to pitch up outside a Tesco where I used to work and people would buy them sandwiches, coffees and stuff. I have seen them literally binning the food given as its not what they are there for at all. They want cold hard cash for drugs in general. (Obviously there are exceptions to this and I am speaking more generally).

They would be knackered in the countryside as they cant get to the free food kitchens to satisfy their more minor needs for sustenance - gutting rabbits and foraging for berries is not the modern way.

oil and gas keeps popping up...the government are pushing to all electric, homes, cars everything and will push it as a 'cheaper and cleaner alternative' and the people will be happy to think they are helping to save the planet and save money...

...wait until it is your only choice and the government have the monopoly on electricity supplies, the only thing they will not control then will be the oxygen you breathe...for now!!

The political system is absolutely broken. Neither of the main parties are fit for purpose and that goes for those in Australia too.

We need substantial reform, as we do in other areas of life and business, if politics is to be anything other than a shark tank belonging to a bond villain.

Not going to ****ing happen though. Too many people are getting good and rich the way it is. As long as they're happy...

There's a few European countries going that way now, mate.

The way the weather has been is a big factor in all this. 'At the same time, a number of the UK's most important nuclear plants are not working at full capacity and the recent calm weather has starved the grid of wind power.

That's why we saw coal-fired power coming back online recently.'
