He certainly wasn't ****. But he also wasn't the great hope that so many pinned on him. Again, it seems the coaching staff knew more than a lot of the supporters. Seems to be a strange thing that happens a lot.

But no, definitely not ****. He had some talent there.

He’s taking time off to decide between Bayern or Barca.

It was less that people genuinely though he was the great hope, but more frustration that he seemed like a kid with potential who wasn’t given a fair chance. Similar to Obafemi and Reed. Maybe Ralph is right to let them go. But to just say he and the coaching staff get everything right isn’t a solid argument, when you consider we gave Shane Long a 3 year contract and Walcott 2 years, both likely on much higher wages than the kids we let go.

By the way I agree with you on Broja, and we have the same view on Redmond. I think Tella deserves more of a chance though mainly because Djenepo isn’t doing anything.

I hear you, and of course Ralph etc don't get everything right, by a long stretch. But of the players they've let go, I don't see anyone pulling up trees, and I am far more likely to trust their judgement than I am some arsewipe on Twitter.

Tella will get his chance - as I've said before (and it's just a guess), I think Ralph trusts Djenepo and Redmond more in terms of taking on defensive instruction, so hence why we've seen them against the more tricky teams. Tella I would suspect will get a run out against teams we're hoping to beat, rather than teams we're hoping not to be beaten by.

As shown tonight for the first goal where Tells was nowhere near their fullback having been sucked in.

Looks great going forwards and hopefully can use him more as an impact sub.

Certainly Sims career has gone badly, but Reed had a good season in the Premier League last season. Obvs too early to say anything about Obafemi.

What I was telling myself is that Ralph must be giving each player 3 or 4 games to prove themselves this season. And that Tella will be next in line when/if Elyou or Redmond don’t do much. But yeah, the defensive thing is probably the more likely reason, haha.

Wikipedia suggests not. I’m guessing that’s by choice, I’m sure he could find a team somewhere.

I read somewhere he picked up a nasty injury, and clubs presumably don't want to pay wages on an injured player who won't play till after Xmas.

Went to the game last night, thanks again to Onionman for great parking advice. Before the game I thought it would be an easy match but then Utd started to win their matches. Although Lyanco is getting a lot of abuse, he wasn’t the only one below par.At least he has the excuse of being the newbie. Playing against that well known rugby league player, McBurnie would be a challenge to any CB. Valery wasn’t as convincingly either. Moussa was just frustrating, always trying to beat three players before losing the ball or passing to an off side player. JWP corners were poor at times. Borja got very little service until we were chasing the match. So several first team players were also a bit below par. Salisu , Romeo and Diablo stood out, excellent games. Frazier was coolness personified.
A few seats away from me , some moron spent the second half giving the Utd goalie a load of abuse. The same keeper who pulled off an incredible save just before full time. Did my head in. Some poor sod has to live with him or be next to him at home matches every week. Not a great game but a great result.

Fine so long as the Saints players don't get feet of clay or incur an injury because they might be so fragile.

The twitter abuse on Lyanco has thankfully subsided. It's amazing how fickle fans are. A win and suddenly they are very forgiving!

As for Valery and Djenepo, I think their problem is consistency. On their day they are brilliant. But unless they can find that consistency, they will find themselves left behind as the overall quality of the squad improves (which it is).
