Funny, when I your team's sheet I thought "they're obviously taking it more serious than us" 2nd choice goalkeeper. None of our first choice defenders (although I like Tsimikas, I think he could easily become our first choice RB in time) None of our first choice midfielders (although Keita will probably be in that role whilst Thiago is out). None of our first choice attack. This is very much our second XI with none of our preferred players, but still some decent talent in a few spots. These guys won't have much experience as a cohesive unit, it's a mix of kids and fringe players. I wouldn't discount your team, you could very well beat us tonight.
Unexpected, yes; weird, no. Eleven round pegs in round holes and DF backing his words (that every player in the squad matters) with action?
On a different tack, should this Cup be put to bed since no one seems to play their strongest team anymore, not even Championship clubs? Or maybe replaced with an EFL Cup for sides from the football league only, with a guaranteed game against the sixth team in the Champs for the right to join the play-offs?
Wonderful football going forward, pretty tippy tappy, vulnerable from the first set piece and conceding a soft goal. New formation, new players: same old Norwich.
We might be a goal down, but at least we are pressuring the ball and trying to win knock downs in the centre of the pitch. I think PLM is looking busy.
I know it’s mad isn’t it - and then that corner, only four Liverpool players in the box and only one actually attacking the cross versus seven of ours, including we had three players around where the ball was falling and yet their one book managers to outjump and outmuscle our defence. For all our weaknesses in giving the ball away and struggling to attack, I still can’t help thinking we’d be a mid table side if we could just defend a set piece.
No penetration in final third Gilmour running round like a headless chicken. Easily knocked off the ball………
