I keep seeing this, but that's a clip of Egan scoring because Sharp has successfully blocked Wilks from marking him. The issue isn't that we were wrestling too much, it's that they did it much better than us and got away with it.

 

It really was, and is!!
Numerous examples where our players are more interested in wrestling than in bothering about where the ball is. It's asking for trouble, and so it proved on Saturday.
Just ****ing defend, attack the ball and command our own area. Basics.

 

No - the issue was they weren’t watching the ball, too busy jostling. They didn’t have a clue where the ball was at any stage during set pieces. Shambolic approach

 

I thought I was watching Strictly Come Dancing at times.

 

And yet, the goal was scored because our player was successfully blocked off leaving Egan unmarked.

 

No it really wasn't. The (cute) blocking was a consequence of our shambolic approach and naivity - the root cause is wanting to wrestle rather than watching the ball and defending. Don't in the first place get into wrestling matches where you aren't even watching the ball then that sort of thing doesn't happen. It's far from the first time.

 

I am assuming someone living close by is at Cottingham watching training today ready to report back to us.

 

So who is coming in to save the season?
I see Harry Kewell's just being sacked by Barnet.
It isn't going to happen, Kewell or anyone else. The only way Terry is leaving in the long term is if he's offered another job, elsewhere. Which also isn't going to happen.

Seriously though, I don’t think a single one of our lads in the box were watching the ball during both of Egan’s goals. They were all too busy focusing on each man they were assigned to mark, as per what Ingram said post-match, that they forgot about the ball…

 

Any owner who cared about our football club would have sacked that idiot today.
So come Saturday it will be the same players (though he might start Tyler and say Josh broke a nail in training) the same tactics and the same result and not our 3rd Championship win in what is it 30 games.

 

Just out of interest, with no new players in, what is a realistic league finish with a different manager?

 

How long is a piece of string? The Turkish manager’s name mentioned on here could be our Bielsa or another Slutsky.

Personally, I think an decent Championship manager like Wilder would keep us up this season with a base to improve on next season. A foreign manager with no experience in English football would be more of a gamble. One thing I do know is that McCann isn’t cut out for the Championship, so we have nothing to lose by replacing him.
