So anyone still think this will happen? Or will we have any news at all one way or the other any time soon?
I just can't see how any news comes out prior to the 29th September and quite probably 10 - 14 days after that unless the PL have folded. It makes no sense to keep delaying then chucking in the towel 2 weeks before a hearing that's only determining if there even is a CAT case to answer.....and if they have, I want it to continue because it means either the club must have some serious **** on them (PL), or Qatar are ****ting themselves that Saudi and the Emirates wont co-operate with air space etc for the world cup meaning next to no fans attending. I could well be wrong but I don't see how another party can be sniffing around for anywhere near the same price Ashley agreed with PIF unless he thinks he can have the shortfall paid for by the PL and the courts. Finally I don't believe these Llambias rumours - he must know how much that club had been asset stripped under Ashley and knows there is no profit or very little profit to be had from it. I hope i'm wrong
I'd pay no attention to the Llambias rumour. Clearly malicious, name a more odious man than Ashley and he's near the top of the list - what a coincidence. Seems like that date is probably the most reasonable timeframe within which we might hear something, but it depends on the game Ashley is playing. I mean, he's hardly "desperate" to get out, otherwise he'd have been gone long ago. He could write off the debt and put a £150m price-tag on it and he'd have 50 offers before the end of the day. Whether the PIF bid, or any restructuring of it, actually exists is debatable and nobody here or online will know that. HDQ seems convinced that's what exists, but again I just think that info is what is coming out, so you could even argue that's what Ashley wants you to hear. I'd hope that once the CAT case progression is decided, we'll hear something else. But it's not a lot of hope. Whether these Ambani rumours (again, a dangerous word) are anywhere near reality, whether there's other things (Palotta? Beane? Kenyon?) actually happening, only one or two men will actually know. What gives me hope, weirdly, is Steve Bruce. He should have walked end of last season. He uses words like "ticking along", implying he's there to get it through uncertain times, which itself indicates those times are coming to an end. He is a man waiting for his pay-out and he knows Ashley's not going to be the one doing it, so what does that mean? And he simply isn't under any internal pressure, all the pressure on him is external from the fans and media. Then there's other things - Charnley still isn't there in person and his pay went up a ridiculous amount - again, likely ahead of a takeover to give Ashley's mate a decent pay-out when he's inevitably sacked. 27 players out, none in, but new commercial agreements to really fatten up the balance sheet. General sale tickets for away fans, keep the revenue up. It's all short term gain, with no interest in the long term interests. If this doesn't mean a takeover, then honest to God I think Ashley is certifiably ****ing nuts.
I do, but the clubs position in the premier league will surely be vital. The agreed price and the aim for PIF is to have a premier league club. Ok there's ifs and buts as to whether they'd agree a new price and take a championship club, but the fact is we don't know that. We need to stay up
The aim since the day the papers arrived about the takeover I believe the premier leagues legal team new they didn't have to grounds to fail it. I would suspect their legal team said they can't fail it, but what we can do is delay this until they simply give up. I would expect they knew they could delay this for at least a year or 2 and fully expected the buyers or one of them to give up. They knew the time, the effort and even the clubs position could see them simply go away at any moment. They haven't and imo time and delaying is running short for them now Unfortunately the clubs position in the league isn't looking very secure. Assuming the buyers got the go ahead would they pay 300 million when there's a threat they'd lose most of that if the clubs relegated? or would they wait? When you're dealing with 300 million waiting a few months to check what you're buying is still actually worth that figure is a short period of time in business terms .

Just ask yourself "how many people are involved in the deal?" Mike Ashley, Justin Barnes, Keith Bishop - legal team PCP,PIF,Reubens - their legal teams. All of which do business deals on a regular basis in secrecy. None of whom will be based in the North East. At the club I have my doubts Charnley knows where everything stands from one day to the next, never mind managers, coaches, players, Billy the steward, Jannice in the ticket office, Bob in the club shop and Peter the Piss head in NINE bar. Out of the entire Twitterati. Steve Wraith sat with Amanda at a game and I think he knows her a bit - not to the level where he'd get updates on an even semi-regular basis, but to be fair I've not seen him make out any different. Keith may have had snippets due to the CAT case, I doubt he's being told of other parties at this stage. Mitch is probably too far away to know much other than rumours from pissed up agents in Dubai, Steve Hastie - again he never seems to say he knows much at all. The rest who make out they have contacts in the club, a small percentage might know a steward, a security guard, someone in retail or a groundsman - none of which will be informed of what the hell is going on. Just seems attention seekers desperate for attention. One day in the possible near future, possibly in a year or 2's time we will hear something through official channels. Till then I'd take everything with a pinch of salt.
